I'm the ultimate LOTR fan, actually my dad is. My middle name is Aragorn, well not by choice. Seriously it is, though most people growing up didn't realize were it was from, now everyone knows.

Hey bmartuch just ran across that nasty guy who left the 'should take up "nitting"' comment - evidently he left a really mean comment on someone's grain photo (it was discussed on the grain score thread). I looked at the guy's profile - he should take up grammar lessons and maybe human decency 101. His comments have no value that I can discern. Your cherry photo is beautiful. I only post this because I want to make sure you realize that this guy just makes random hurtful comments. You were probably unlucky number 20 or something.

NikonJeb had a couple of things to say to the guy based on the other nasty comment he made (the comment was not to Jeb but had obviously really hurt someone's feelings, and Jeb was standing up for that person.) Our Jeb did Team Suck proud. He did not resort to anything rude or nasty, but instead made his feelings known in a firm yet dignified manner. He left no room for it to turn into a pissing match, and maybe-just maybe- the guy will think twice before he randomly posts his nastiness.

Add that I just got an awesome comment from nikonjeb in grain. That makes 3 suckers who've commented on it during the challenge. I love you guys. Big hug.

Sheesh!

Someone give Catherine a hug before she pops!!!!

Is this the same Catherine who was grousing about her pic tanking????

Silly goose!

I just left a note on the Grain thread (Bring on the Noise) in Current Challenges, and it sounds like some of the good'uns like idnic and Sneezy DrAchoo are going to get left SERIOUSLY in the dust by Catherine.

I'm just hopinbg to beat them, not smoke 'em like Catherine.

I seriously hope you get that PB and it's comfortably a 7.+++!

GO TEAM SUCK!!!!

It's NOT just you.

I've taken a couple photos in the last few days that I've got uploaded, but hidden because they would qualify as colour portraits. Even though they aren't anything close to out-takes. Can't wait to show them off.

I guess I gotta give it up.....

Don gave me a comment.

I think it was a good one......8>)

I thought I was doing pretty well until I ran into a bunch of really good entries that should on many levels kick my a$$.......8>(

I'm still VERY pleased!

So..... Melethia offered to critique somebody's work on another thread, and it was on klstover's au5 thread in response to that oh-so-familiar angst-ridden plea for support and understanding about the low score condition.

Since Team Suck personifies care and support for the passion of photography and the search for the ever better personal expression through it, I propose that Team Suck once again pioneer the way here at DPC with, get ready.......The Team Suck Review Panel!

I hate the implication of criticism in the word critique, and we are constantly reviewing, enjoying, and helping each other by offering what we like, and what we think *MAY* help and/or lend a different aspect to each other's work.

Nicely.

What would you think of the idea of a rotating panel of about a half dozen or so of us doing that for people who honestly want help and suggestions without the stigma and angst that "critiques" can cause?

I'm more than willing to help, Jeff, Jayson, Catherine, Mary, and many others have always been good about constructive and helpful suggestions, I've surely left many out.....8>)

Any takers?

The structure for critiques already exists here.

I just noticed in the "Cell Phone" challenge that it says to take a picture of a "person" using a cell phone. So we have two challenges that have to be of people.

I love the idea of being on a critique panel - it seems like I almost never get critiques from the DPC panel when I request it with my submission. Maybe we should post the link to DPC clubhouse critique area on the AU5 thread; I'd be more than willing to check it regularly and offer my (often less than sage) tips, etc.

I tried something a little different. Thanks to skewsme for her little "Urban Acid" action.

Bob, that is AWESOME! No kidding. I love your PP on this. It looks like something that should be hanging in a gallery. It is going into my faves!

That is a great shot, Bob, may end up in my faves too!

Jeb, very proud of you for standing up to that idiot. Going by his comments, he's not terribly literate or smart. Maybe he'll now think twice before posting nasty comments.

Annnd, the moment you've all been waiting for...

That's interesting. I remember saying that somewhere myself. Now, if I could just remember where. Hmmmmmmmm.

What about the Reaction Club? This was an idea bucket had for an antidote to the Critique Club. I started a thread called "the Reaction Club" but I was the only member of the Reaction Club and it quickly died down. Eventually, I just gave up and joined the Critique Club.

To specify, a "reaction" is an honest expression of how you responded to a photo. It is just a description of your subjective response, instead of a judgment or a list of pretend rules that you should have followed, or the dimensions of the box you should have stayed in.

I loved your idea when you first posted it, Don. My own critiquing has evolved over the past year. I now mention technical aspects in the context of how they affected my reaction to a photo, as opposed to being ends in themselves.

For example, if the fact that someone's head is very close to the edge of a photo actually distracts me, I'll be specific about the distraction. But not just "it's too close to the edge."

Now Bob, this has nothing to do with any other place you may have said something similar :-) I truly love this photo.

I was just kidding. I figured that I had to give you a little crap just for the fun of it.
