But I must say; on those sites people expect me to edit pics. So for my "test", they're not useful. I wanted to check wether my altered pic would "survive" between unedited pics, remember? |
This site is not your guinea pig.

You have been a user of this site since Feb. 2002. Therefore, you should know the culture, the rules and the consequences. |

Your 'reason' is unimportant. The fact is you did it. It's a yes or no question. You did it, or you didn't. And you did.

???
I said I cheated in the very first post in this thread... I never disagreed on that; I DID cheat, alas not to improve my score, but another reason.

Ok...I admit....I cheated is the title you choose for this thread. If you didn't think you were wrong in doing this, they why choose the word admit? You admitted to breaking the rules. Rules are there for a reason, whatever they may be. By breaking them, you basically showed how much you value this site and it's users, which is what most people seem to be angry about. |

You think it is distracting, but others think it's a nice effect. I've posted this pic before on another site (unaltered at that time); more people liked the effect. Only a few disliked it. So I kept it...
By the way: one or more of the "auto-" actions in PS diminish the flare effect by at least 70%. I could surely have done this without ANYONE noticing. That would not have been a proof of my skills. I actually wonder how many people use "auto-contrast", "auto-levels", etc... you would be surprised ...or is this allowed here?

Originally posted by jimmyn4: After trying to get through all of the posts on this one all I wanted to add was. If your trying to work on your spot editing skills and you obviously participate in the threads here. Wouldn't it have been easier to not submit a photo to the challenge and create a thread asking people what there opinions of your spot editing were. Personally I didn't vote on your photo on the challenge and I looked at it. It really isn't that good of a spot editing job and I may have requested a DQ. I think the person who commented on how you got this without editing should have put in a DQ. This is a lesson to all voters. If the photo brings up a question in your mind about legitimacy and you comment on its legitimacy you should request a DQ too. |
If I would post the pic, and would ask "has it been altered and where?"... then people would look at my pic with a totally different perspective (ic. not the "normal" way of looking at my pic)...

Actually, I'm not gonna waste my breath/typing fingers replying to this thread anymore. I think the point's been made already

You are getting way too much attention on this.
Bottom line.. Breaking the rules is unacceptable.. I have posted this many times in this thread. Continuing to persue it here is ineffective, i.e. you will not change our minds.
Anyone else cheating should reexamine their goals here. |

No offense, but Woop-de-doo. Do you really think it took a lot of special skill to move a needle? Virtually anyone here has the talent to cheat in a very convincing manner. You have really pushed some wrong buttons here... |
You may have those skills. but I can assure you a lot of people - including me a while ago - have not...

Maybe you should refer to the rules occassionally and actually read them so you know, this is a direct quote from the rules
"Post-shot Adjustments may be made to your image in a photo editing program, so long as the modification is applied to the whole image. This includes levels, b&w conversion, hue/saturation, sizing/rotating, curves and cropping (or their non-Photoshop equivalents)." |

I guess I'm still confused.
You cheated.
You know you cheated.
You know you intentionally tried to decieve everyone who voted on your picture in good faith.
Then, later on you come out and tell everyone - what sort of reaction did you expect ? People to be impressed by your skills ? To be happy to find out that you lied to them ? |

You are only trying to provoke, and THEREFORE digging your hole deeper.
We are DONE here. |

I think we all need to remember that personal attacks are not suppose to occur in the forum posts. Not even against childish cheaters with no respect for themselves or others that believe themselves above the rules and whine that people call them dishonest when they admit to having cheated...
Just something to think about :)

Oh ow!
Yes I broke that rule too.
This pic was chosen as...
-it was good for the "speed" contest
-it was convenient for trying out my PS skills
Sue me! |

I still want to know why you didn't just create a thread and ask people for their opinion on your spot editing skills.

I think JOCHEN was trying to invoke a conversation, and provoke response, and he succeeded in both accounts.
