I know we are just finishing 'Trends' challenge, but would someone consider "Traditions" as a challenge? It could be interesting since there are people from around the world on DPC. The title of each photo could state the tradition to avoid confussion.

I idea is very good BUT the topic police will be worse on this one. The audience here is global so if I post a particular scene from an Indian Wedding not many would get it it without atleast a 20 word explaination.
Still I very much like the idea!!

You are right Tarique. People would have to be a little bit more open minded in their judgements. |

This would be good....traditions are different from trends and usuallly never change within a given culture...good choice! |

This is a nice idea. I can't agree with Tarique's point because tradition, by definition, has had more time to be disseminated, meaning that more of the world would more likely be aware of that tradition. Of course, it might work in favour of less mainstream traditions. In the case of the Indian wedding, I'm sure that it would be viewed as more of a tradition by westerners than not. |

That is if I stick to what is the *percieved* view of an Indian wedding by the majority :D
Also what about traditions which are local to a family/town/state?
I guess we will have to pin it down to Cultural Traditions - ah! then will come the problem of how to define "Culture"
The solution simply is that the voters here should loosen up a bit on striking down what meets and what does not meet the challenge |

I agree with Tarique. My view of another cultures traditions has, in the main, been formed by the media (film, magazines, etc.) and as such I may not recognise a deviation from the norm (this is not to say I would vote it down). To be 'safe' in a challenge such as this you would need to post an image of a 'mainstream' tradition which could be recognised as such. |
