Some of you may be interested in some of my low flying aircraft shots. I have no connection what so ever to the military. These photos were taken from the sides of hills.Comments appreciated.

That was taken just a few weeks ago.I was about to leave the area as the sun was so low and in the pilots faces. I assumed that flying aircraft through a tight valley might be a bit too much in those conditions.....then the Herc came around the corner :-)

All I can say is wow. There are some fantastic shots there. I love the EuroFighter cockpit close up with the HUD showing.

Awesome. Two questions, how long do you have to wait for shots and how's your hearing?

cheers

And what lens and how much are you cropping?

Great bit of photography. I am very impressed. Could you also include the camera settings on your photographs?

I try to crop as little as possible. For example the Herc shot is full frame. If I do too much cropping there is something wrong, either I need a new location or a longer lens.
camera equipment used Canon 20 and 40 D
70-200 IS f2.8L and the 100-400 F5.6 L Canon lenses.

How long? It can be a couple of hours between aircraft. There are no set times. Just to give you an indication on how frustrating it can be. I spent 4 hours on a very cold hillside last Thursday. There were a few aircraft doing some high level stuff. Nothing came through low level.

Hearing? Not a problem. To be honest I'm concentrating that hard on getting the shot that I hardly notice the noise. To be fair it's not that bad as they are restricted to a max of around 500 knots.

Just a bit of advice before I post some more shots up.

How do I post clickable thumbnails up here?

I like most of you I'm sure think clicking a link get a bit tedious !
01/15/2008 02:47:38 PM · #16
You post thumbs using the second to last little icon/button on the "Post Reply" page, the one that seems to show two little images on it. It'll ask for a number - when the photo is open (another tab is easiest) the last number series in the web address is the number you copy over. Hope that makes sense.

Those shots are downright amazing! Awesome stuff!

They are taken in the southern end of the Snowdonia national park. The area around Dolgellau, Machynlleth and Corris.

Manic,
Thanks for the thumbnail links.
