I took this one on Friday, but felt it could be squeezed in here as its more of the same area.

Would it be okay if I joined in on a part-time basis?
I didn't think I'd have any time as I thought my Local Assignment was going to take up more time than it did.
I've got some busy days coming up, but I promise to leave at least two to three more comments than images, and I should be able to get a shot every couple of days ......I STILL have dialup!
Here's some morning traffic on my way to work, ducks & planes: [thumb]629693[/thumb]
Edited for fat fingers....

Day 6 Peveril of the Peak
In the two years I have been living in England many myths have come down. However, at least in Manchester, there IS a Pub every 10 paces. Never thirsty I have to tell you that ;¬)
This pub is just crossing the street from the one I showed you by the canal.
Manchester is an Industrial city and I am lucky because I like were I live now but there are lots of dodgy places close by. I will try to show the other side of Manchester as well.
ETA: for the people asking about the locks, those work with the same principle of the Panama canal (in a way smaller scale) in which you need to flood/empty the middle section to make it level with the other side of the canal. Very interesting indeed.

Home from training at the animal shelter (and no, no guinea pigs magically appeared so I just talked my way through that part) and here is my demo bunny, Pookie:
He was, as he always is, The Best Bunny in the Whole Wide World :-)
Should have brought the camera to the training because one of the other volunteers/teachers brought some of her rats, two of whom are hairless ... really something you need to see to believe. I didn't feel tempted to take one home, though the one I held made little happy rat noises when I petted her so I couldn't have been radiating negative feelings. But still, a rat, with NO hair ... just don't see the attractiveness, personally. Petting her felt like touching a plastic Creepy Crawler toy from my childhood that your finger kind of got stuck on without it being sticky ... hard to explain but maybe some of you old folks can relate ;-)
Will be at the shelter most of tomorrow so don't be surprised if tomorrow's shot is animal shelter-related! |

Catch-up time! The camera has been snapping away each day, I just haven't had a chance to post them... I've also been sick as a dog and house-bound this past week, so hopefully there will be a little more variation from tomorrow ;)
Day 4:
Self-portrait - it was hard to find anything interesting to photograph whilst confined to a not particularly clean bedroom! A bit of experimentation...
Day 5:
One of the best things about running this pub at the moment are the punters - incredibly friendly, and prone to partaking in air-drumming after closing time.
Day 6:
An elephant appeared across the road yesterday. The cops weren't pleased. But I can't believe they're STILL chasing it!

PS; I just like to add this information reguarding this special place.....
A view looking out to sea from the high cliffs overlooking the wonderful ocean at Claoundra.
I always love this view as I feel like I am on top of the world, looking out to sea tha magical blue waters, the rocks and sand that make me love Caloundra so very much. it is our home and we are so blessed to live here.
The place where I took this image is very special to many, as it is a park on top of the cliff looking out to sea.
The tributes to our war veterians is here, with many memorial plaques, flag pole and beautiful gardens, make this a very special place.
I love sitting on one of th park benches and taking time out to be grateful to be alive, and to enjoy this precious view.
Enjoy.....

A little off the path today.
My soon-to-be- mother in law and her new beau were in town, so the 4 of us went to breakfast in this neighborhood Mexican restaurant, owned and run by a very nice Chinese couple. This is something you only see in small neighborhood restaurants and is one reason I love Phoenix.
This elegantly dressed man walked in and sat at the counter. I could not resist taking his photo, but the WB was not set properly on my camera.... hence the black and white. |

It was so nice today, got in the 60's! I have to admit taking pictures wasn't really on my mind, I just wanted to go running through the park. I did happen to get this squirrel in the neighbors yard. I used to have a chain-link fence like them, but now I have a 6' vinyl fence because Petey can jump over the short fence and he figured out how to climb the chain-link fence.
I did this second one because I wasn't really happy with the squirrel picture. I really was just bored. I should have named it goofing off.
MelonMusketeer suggested I try this same shot with foil, so I did. Thank you so much for the great idea!

79F here today, lots of bikers were out and about. The sunset shots are all today's sunset from the local bridge over the river. I thought it was worth sharing.
If you want to comment, please just pick one, as I know that everyone is swamped with comments and commenting on this amazingly social side challenge.
PP= Bike shot, S/H sunsets, not edited.

Sorry i haven't had time to comment today, i will try and catch up later in the week. it was a beautiful day in the Ozarks so a friend and i grabbed our cameras and hit the road. we drove about a hundred mile south of here to one of my favorite places in the ozarks. the white river. We went to a couple old water Mills and took lots of pics. We were there the wrong time of day but it was still fun. This is one of my favorite mills sorry for the poor light.

I was out doing some geocaching today and took these shots...
not sure what the cage is for... just happened to notice it as we were walking along the river.
