A have a Canon 40D. Can anyone explain what the (technical) difference is in setting the High Tone Priority Option and simply use a slight Over Exposure, say +2/3 and than reducing it with 2/3 in a raw editer?

high tone exposure actually under exposes (so it doesn't blow the highlights), then uses an in camera curve adjustment to boost the darker areas

Thanks so much for the link, it was very helpful - just bought a 40D on Sunday, so I'm trying to get up to speed on how much it differs my 30Ds.
