I'll be in Chicago in a few weeks staying one night at the hotel by the airport for a business meeting. However, I'm bringing Jenn and we want to explore Chicago so will be moving to a hotel closer downtown for two nights. We love smaller hotels that have unique rooms and feature ambiance. Since there are about two zillion hotels in Chicago I was going to open myself to suggestions.
Any favorite boutique hotels you have stayed in downtown that have access to the stuff to see in Chicago? |

I wish I had good recommendations for downtown... now if it were downtown Milwaukee, I'd recommend the Iron Horse.
the more important question is, while you are in the Midwest, can we do a GTG?

Would be great to see you again, but, alas, it's gonna be a packed weekend and little getaway vacation with Jenn. I forgot you were up in that neck of the woods! |

Hi there
I could recommend the Hotel Indigo to you. We where staying in this small boutique hotel for a couple of nights in 2009. Rooms where modern and clean, staff friendly and it was an easy walk to downtown.
Greetings from Switzerland

I don't know of any smaller hotels downtown, but if I'm staying downtown, I like to stay at The Drake. It's classic upscale Chicago.
There are some really cool B&B's North of downtown, mostly in and around Lincoln Park, but a couple are within walking distance of downtown:
The Flemish House isn't too far away from downtown, but if your two nights are during the weekend, be forewarned, they have a 3-night minimum.
There's also Gold Coast B&B, but I don't know about that

OK! Thanks for the recommendations. Will check both out. Yes, we're only staying two nights. Actually, three, but the first has to be at the airport for the research meeting. |
