I just found three of my landscape images on Gettyimages. Royalty free, how do they have the right? |

That's weird... Did someone else sell it to Getty? |

Yeah itΓ’s pretty diabolical of them passing off a photo that somebody else took and making quite a bit of money from it. IΓ’ve contacted them they wanted to know the image numbers so I did screenshots, waiting back to hear.
And Wendy I have quite a few images on Pinterest also, your edit is much more supreme. |

Screenshots of the images themselves, if that's what you meant, are meaningless. They are looking to see if you have the original files. I am probably misunderstanding what you meant. And there's nothing "diabolical" about it; SOMEBODY submitted those images to Getty passing them off as their own. |

Yes I think they came from 500px. Because thatΓ’s the only site I have submitted those photos to.
I spoke to them and got this response:
Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’Γ’
Thank you for the phone conversation today.
Sorry that this has brought any inconveniences to you.
I have escalated this matter to our Copyright Team. They may contact you directly within 2 business days. Appreciate your patience on this.

I know this thread is a little old now but in case its unresolved hereΓ’s a blog that might be usefulΓ’Β¦

Certainly doesnΓ’t sound like theyΓ’re being honest or transparent.

Apparently 1x.com feel they have the right to sell your work on their site also, never received a penny from them. Pinterest is full of people ripping of original work as their own. At the end of the day it would take too much of my effort to try and convince them otherwise and I'm guessing these companies know that so they continue to take advantage of people. At the end of the day they will receive their just desserts!

Not true, you have to declare explicitly that your image is for sale. I think 1x is still run by honest people so what you say is unfair, do you really have a proof that they sold some of your images and kept the money??
I unchecked "for sale" on all my images and they disappeared from fineartamerica very quickly where I did not want to see them. In fact it is unlikely they would ever be sold. The current reality is that it is very difficult to sell images, even by professional artists, there are just too many of them and all very similar, copies of the copies of the copies. |

Maybe I should've said 500px. |

Um, no...... It's difficult to sell images because people steal them constantly. Why pay when you can steal them?

If you did not read the terms of the service agreement carefully, you may have unknowingly signed away your copyrights. In this case, Getty Images may have the legal right to sell your landscape images royalty-free. |
