It's just unusual for one of these critters to hang out in our neighborhood, considering all of the dogs and kids. He seemed like he belonged, and even posed for me.

On a recent drive from California to Washington I saw two dead foxes on the highway. : (

We've had foxes around intermittently for several years. It didn't surprise me because we are semi-rural here, but their tolerance of us did surprise me. A couple winters ago, a red fox cavorted in the snow about 10 feet from my son & his friend.
I have seen red foxes in an industrial park where I used to work, and we see more and more coyotes in suburban settings as well, our latest sighting was two days ago on a major street in Milwaukee.

I think I saw a pair of raccoons lumbering off early yesterday morning.

Good article...and it's my hometown paper. On a positive note, rabbits aren't eating our plants anymore :)

Glad you were able to get a picture of it. There are a couple of foxes that have moved in under the foundation of a building that was removed decades ago. I have tried to get pictures of them, but so far I have only seen them at night, way too dark for my camera to handle.

I've had a red fox several in my yard. I'm only a few blocks from the downtown business area. Since all my dogs (4) died with a year and half, I've had them regularly.
