Hi!
I just learned of this site from a friend. I have always loved taking pictures, but over the last couple of years I have become more serious about improving my photography skills. I've participated in some online classes, read as much as I can, take pictures every day, and participate in challenges online. My biggest challenge however is that I have to remember I have other things to do besides play with pictures. I have three homeschooling children, ages 9, 7, and 3, who also enjoy photography. :)

Welcome to the phunny pharm of photography! Feel free to jump on into the shark tank and have a swim. (It's on the main page, cleverly disguised as "Challenges Open for Submission".)
Here's a welcome basket for you, filled with DPC goodies that you will soon have a love/hate relationship with:

You know, I never got one either. Perhaps that's why I don't actually hate any of the items in it?
Welcome Michelle. To properly take advantage of everything this site offers, make sure you read all the posts on DPC addiction, how to deal with trolls, effective methods for controlling your Update habit, and coping techniques for scoring fluctuations and lack of commenting. |

To incorporate all of the desired symbology, we'd need to swap the basket for a cornucopia :-) |

I think perhaps something the size of a dumpster may actually be in order.

Not to disparage your "friend" but friends don't let friends join DPC.
But since you're here, you might as well enjoy yourself. :) |

Oh yeah! The rake incident - That was funny, I wish I could find the thread. In fact, all newcomers should get a list of 'classic threads' so they can catch up on in-jokes. |

The thread. The rake. A summary of the whole set of incidents (in song form with links to various threads).
Now that I think about it, we haven't had any major pot-stirring, can-o-worms, sh*t-storm, drama / controversies in several years now. Let that be a challenge to you newcomers. :) |

Yaaay! Thanks for my basket.
@ Ken - didn't we have an unauthorized stealing of DPC images incident mid year? Some village burning involved and hastily deleted galleries? |

Yeah, but that and even the "Wedding Photographer's Apprentice" incident don't compare to the good ol' days of Chit Rabbinton, Rikki, and Slippy's Contestroversy. ;-) |
