Anyone going? Bueller? Bueller?
Since I had a choice of 3 Flash Bus dates, all nearly equidistant at 6ish hours away, I decided to venture into mk-land and fulfill my lifelong dream of seeing the Mary Tyler Moore statue ... and see McNally and Hobby.
Any other DPC-ites swinging by? |

Indeed, it would have been great to hang out... just got back home from the event, and I can say that I was very pleased with the value. You're going to have fun! |

I was in the front row of the back section, right of stage center. Where were you? |

I agree, it was really worth the money, and the trip!
For those who have attended one of the events, I'm curious... which presenter's methods resonated with you more, Hobby or McNally?
I guess I've concluded, I'm a "Hobbyist" |

I have to confess - I was a pure Hobbyite (he hits home with his logical approach to lighting) until a couple of months ago, I now consider myself a transMcNallyed mutt (but not a muts.
When I read "Light Shoe Diaries" many moons ago I wasn't impressed with McNally's written word - it didn't resonate with uber-logical-jp. Having listened to him I know I must read that book again, I have a whole new respect for the guy (like he needs my respect, he's frickin' Joe effin McNally!)
Bottom-line: I learned oodles from both. Which methodology will I use? I'll Borg them into a McNobby crossbreed for my own evil purposes.
As to presentation methodology - it was the perfect day for me: First half was tell me in a clear and logical way why-and-how to light. In the second was show me a from-the-hip why-and-how to light. It was a Tell-n-Show spectacle! |
