I have been following the Posthumous thread for a while and usually I can figure out what you see in an image that inspires you. As matter for study, can you explain why you appreciate this photo as a statement of freedom? If you would rather Pm me instead of mucking up your awards thread with a reply that would be great too. I just don't get this one.

Ed

ETA: I totally think this deserves a mention...

I think Michelle said it best, "The freedom of imagination."

I'm almost always happy to explain myself, as best I can. First of all, I'm not looking for "statements of freedom." I'm looking for great new images that usually interact with the challenge topic in some way.

The primary impact of this image is the effect it creates of the sun exploding through the window. He uses some kind of motion blur or some other magic to aid in this effect. It's not merely lens flare. Certain original objects are recognizable, tree, person, even though they are "exploded." Closer study reveals some subtle patterns that seem to have intrigued Nick, like the repeating heart and the bird below the heart on the window, and the beautiful bokeh around the sun. These repetitions are the "heartbeats" he refers to. The "explosion" could thus represent the outbound heart, i.e. the love that issues forth from the individual. This sort of interpretation is subjective, but it is a powerful, well-stated and organized image that prompts people to make such interpretations. And that is the strength here. All the elements of this image seem to be working together.

Thanks Aldo mcaldo. I also got a great comment from tome
"Freedom of creativity is bright and heavy. Brings uneven light and bends tables."

Freedom is a big burden.
I wanted to call it originally "Freedom is Not Enough", quoting Pres. Lyndon Johnson. Thus all the flaws would have been happily overlooked.
As to the table, no lens distortion there; it's like a boat. Too much freedom!

Lots of enjoyable entries in this challenge! Some worth a re-look, in my opinion:
