Thank you Don and Anita.

My picks for TiltShift...

for by posthumous

I particularly commend to your attention Niall's picture because of all the 'miniature scene' entries it was the one with the most purpose, the most legitimacy as a photograph, and not just a gimmick. Niall's picture was not about the effect at all; it was about the picture. (I should say that Niall's was not the only one, but it was my pick from among the very few serious contenders).

Neat, with an over-average score, new bling, a favourite, and wonderful comments I can't complain at all! :-)

Ublique, new bling! Thanks so much :-) Must hang it over the fireplace on my profile now.

belated BIG blur

playful, crossed generations, and even subtle environmentalism.

Strikes as a painted dream, and pairs will the Robert's image.

Offbeat fantasy, unless you don't think it's a bird.

Hard to look at, initially, but easy to enjoy. Chaos and security.

Yep, Lensbaby eye-candy, sort of . . . there is a lot of beauty to enjoy in a sunset, but Robert leveraged the light and composition to give me the exciting anticipation of undefined journey.

Free Study 2011/12

Shining a pale light on some of the very few who noticed the presence of the word "Free" in the challenge description, and were naturally belted for it in the voting.

Orders of the Thumb are showered, in no order at all, as follows:

to by bmilne (finished 207/245)
to by jmritz (finished 238/245)
to by tnun (finished 240/245)

Easy to dismiss these as artsy, blurry, grainy (etc) crap. But why strive to take pictures that look just like uncountable thousands of other pictures? Why not embrace the "Free" in Free Study and try to do something that you've never done before? Perhaps that nobody has done before? Look at the three ribbon winning images (splendidly executed though they may be, yada yada) ... haven't you seen them before? How many thousands of times? How many more times is enough?

Beautiful thought.
Convinced me to try different.
(Yet you can't say that there isn't high correlation between photos in this thread and extremely dark and blurry images)

This month I gave out three 10s - all of which attracted 'Longer Look' comments. They were:

(All attracted faves from me too - that's unusual)

But at (a ludicrous) 158th place the goes to Melethia for:

Other notable images that attracted 'Longer Look' comments:

With a 9:

With 8s:

And others that stopped me in my tracks:
