| Looking back on the first challenge it recevied 328 entries and with over an hour to go there are only 64 entries thats only 1/5th. |

| The first was during the DPL. I'm sure most of the entries are playoff members in the WPL. |

I think it's because it's near Xmas and people are very busy at the moment.
Not a lot of time to go out shooting. |

| had this been a week earlier i would have been good since i was at two birthday parties, but i had no time with Christmas and finals to play with any balloons. |

This is likely a big reason. Perhaps we need one of those hidden gem type challenges. Give a date range and use any photo from then, may get a few more entires. |

I'm surprised that there are no hot air ballooning photos. I know it's winter in the US, but the challenge is world wide.

| this is why i didnt enter, i contacted local baloon company that do the flights in the peak district national park, went at 6am in the morning on deadline day and the weather wasnt right so they didnt inflate the ballon wasted trip and then didnt want to bother getting small balloons and also had dinner with new g/f so didnt enter. got a beaut of a balloon from 3 months ago though lol |

Inclement weather has grounded hot air balloons in my area for weeks. Too much wind, too often. |

| Not only was it during the DPL, it was the very FIRST challenge of dpl, so people were all still really motivated to contribute for their team. |

can't you fly hot air balloons in the winter? |
Sure! It's actually easier to lift hot air balloons when the air temp is low. But, when the prevailing winds are violent, you don't want to be in a runaway balloon. |

I just have to say I find the none member challenges have become very boring, the subjects just don't intrest.. wasn't it allways so that we none members had two choices each week?
I think to boost DPC popularity again we need to do more for those that do not have the option to pay the membersfee..

+1, even as a member I like the idea of choice
I did not enter this challenge as my dream image is of many balloons taking off in the mist at sunrise in Rocamadour, France (aaah, dreaming again :) |

My dream image was a herd of unicorn/pegasus hybrids frolicking in the clouds playing pop the balloons - but I didn't have any balloons.

 Krisby - it was so for a few years, but in the beginning there was only one...
It became necessary to add a second one when entries to the Open Challenge sometimes reached 400 and even more entries. |
