Surprised that no one has mentioned this already. But the winner of the tilt shift challenge is a photograph of SOMEONE ELSE,S PHOTOGRAPH !!!!!!
How can this possibly be within the rules ?? It makes a total nonsense of the whole game !!
How can this be ? Is it just me ? Have I lost my mind ? Please help me quick.

ive spent 20 minutes trying to work out which building this was taken from, my ex my sons mother lived and worked in central london so spent a fair bit of time their with her and his was puzzling me

just read the description

from the notes

After a lot of searching for suitable large objects with suitable downward looking locations, by chance I then came across the ideal source for use, a poster of london from the air, of which I photographed part of.

gotta be a DQ and really bad form......

Yea, most likely will be DQ'd, I'm guessing he wasn't aware of the "Existing Artwork" rule otherwise he probably wouldn't have pointed it out in the comments.

Chalk this one down to lack of being around the forums long enough to see the extensive discussions on it in the past :)
01/04/2012 07:12:28 AM · #4
read the comments

his justification was that by blurring it a bit and selecting a bit of it, it was no longer an original image haha

like i said in my comment surely this is copyright infringement as well......

I have sent SC a message. This has made me MADDDDD

mirrored and cropped copyright off? i think he used this photo not a photo of a poster as he said as they appear identical in detail etc

yep, like the heated discussions on this one . I still think LydiaToo was robbed of a ribbon. But I will move on. I am sure this will be DQ'd. SC does a great job with these issues. They are right 99% of the time. :)

It will be DQ'ed, otherwise I couldn't understand how I have been DQ'ed in the Lego Challenge. Here the image is not a prominent part of the photo - it really IS the photo.

I hope the SC moves this validation decision to the front burner. It gives new meaning to the term, "No Brainer".

well, that's too bad. this was my highest scorer.

I didn't remember the geography exactly but I assumed that the photo was taken from the London Eye, and being a well known landmark, I was certain this will be the winner. A very unusual case of mistaken interpretation of the rules.

He should take a screenshot of the first page... it seems like won't stay in the same order for long :)

At the beginning I had the same idea but London Eye maybe is not high enough and surely is quite far from Tower Bridge.

//maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Tower+Bridge,+Tanner+Street&hl=en&ll=51.502812,-0.098062&spn=0.022707,0.055618&sll=51.502839,-0.106516&sspn=0.022707,0.055618&vpsrc=6&t=h&radius=1.44&hq=Tower+Bridge,+Tanner+Street&z=15

should be able to see the two shadows, london eye left tower bridge right

fair bit of london between them

Quite happy to remember London geography after being 4 times there :)

Yes, even with a very big lens you could not take this photo of London Bridge from London Eye (I used to live in London but that was in pre London Eye days)

OK, so he fessed up that he took a pic of a poster...but all he did was manipulate someone else's work. Very disappointed.

I wonder if he took a photo of the DPC front-page, applied tilt-shift effect, and then turned it into a poster. Will everything be okay then?

I bet it will be there for at least the day I don't know if SC can do anything until he submits the original. And he has a few days to do that. But maybe there are exceptions when they admit taking a photo of a photo.

Fool, you could have had a blue ribbon with 5 minutes of effort.

I'm proud to be the only 4 vote on this image, but my hat is off to whoever gave it a 3!
