It would be great to include the 2012 nominees. If anyone is going to vote DNMC if the movie portrayed is not a previous Oscar winner, please say so now. The challenge description does not limit the movie selection, other than "...create an photograph based on the title of your favorite movie."

Another challenge I will have to give a miss - shoes, strange faces, animals, sweets! When will we have a decent Landscape challenge?? ;)

My favorite move is Caligula, I don't think it'll score well.

There have and will be plenty of those. I find some of the current subjects to be fun and different.

No but I know it was filmed in New Zealand and I have been there many times.

In Canadian Rockies??

"The Edge" with Alec Baldwin was filmed in Kananaskis Park near Banff in the Canadian Rockies (though it is supposed to be Alaska)

"Death Hunt" with Charles Bronson was filmed in the Canadian Rockies (supposed to be the Yukon)

"Legends of the Fall" was filmed in the mountains and prairies of Alberta and the Canadian Rockies

"Brokeback Mountain" used Alberta prairies and the Canadian Rockies as a stand-in for Wyoming

Because the snow-covered mountains of Alberta and BC are so accessible to highways and the provinces offer support to film makers, many movies are filmed there that are supposedly set in other mountain and wilderness areas.

But, I was most surprised to learn that Doctor Zhivago was filmed in Alberta, Canada. And finally, " A river runs through it " was shot in Alberta, in the fall, with breath taking colours and rich mountain views.

I"m probably missing some others.

Based on the fact it says "title of your favourite movie", it does NOT need to be an oscar winner/nominee. It just needs to be a movie, in honour of the oscars.

My favourite movie is probably Lord of the Rings... and the first idea that popped into my head was rather obscene... lol! Back to the drawing board...

Save that idea for the euphemism challenge ;)

This one sounds like and interesting challenge. Time to get the creative juices flowing.

One of my favorites is "Dances With Wolves," but none around here who know how to dance. ;P

I have a zillion thoughts running through my head, but that doesn't mean I can bring any of them to fruition.

I think this will be a go out and take some photos then find one that I can match a movie title to, which may or may not actually be my favorite movie. Or even a movie I actually like! Too bad the weather today was so crummy.

I was thinking about Dr Zhivago as we have some welcome dump of snow forecast for Friday but I thought the challenge said specifically about the image representing the TITLE, not the MOVIE itself. And Omar Shariff would be a bit too old by now ;)

But the title of the challenge is "The Oscars". Confusing again.

Yes, so for anyone who only reads the title, they may vote that way. But I think the key lies in the description (with my interpretation anyway):

"In honor of the Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood next week, create an photograph based on the title of your favorite movie."

It's a movie based challenge, in honour of the academy awards. That's how I'd perceive it anyhow! I think any movie should be acceptable

I had this idea of doing "Singing in the Rain"! Looked at the forecast for this week, and sure enough. Mid 70s, clear skies. :(

I did a "rain" shot once using a hose with a sprinkler attachment. No one was the wiser. ;)

I thought about using a sprinkler, but then you still have the sun to deal with.
Unless you do it at night. No fun...
