Agreed, back up a full 1 point from abysmal into my usual "meh" range (where I thought it would be originally)...

Well, since I'm now done voting and commenting, if you want a comment, I'd be happy to offer one. I won't change any votes, though. |

I'm guessing I fall into the overcooked category, based on your comment.
But I disagree. When you're dealing with a landscape image that's a mere 800 px wide, there is no fine detail. It doesn't exist. Cooking is a good way to really lend the small image the impact that the scene otherwise embodies.

You're right James - it is my opinion. But the images I gave 8s, 9s, and 10s did have details and subtle features at 800pixels....so it IS possible. I do understand the desire to wow the viewers to score well (and based on the score you posted, you are doing fine). Pumping it up with the Topaz or HDR techniques, or contrast, saturation, etc. are obvious tricks to increase score around here, but if the image doesn't already have that 'it factor' - good light, great composition, compelling leading lines, etc. - it is just not going to wow me.

Most of you got hammered with those low votes from those do gooders who think they know everything about photography, when their own snapshots wouldn't make my first cull...so I have just voted...and NOBODY got under a 5, so this way at least one of their low votes doesn't have as much effect on your score!!!
You have rated 132 of 133 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 1 images (1%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.4773.
So who is going to join me and combat against these ridiculous low voters....????

Well I voted and even commented on a few images. I'm not a landscape expert but I know what I like and with that said I gave nothing lower than a 6, which incidentally was the preponderance of my votes. My comments may give the appearance of someone who thinks of themself as an expert but, it's just my opinion. Most people ask for criticism to know what did or didn't work. I just try to tell them what would better resonate with me. That doesn't mean I'm technically right. A few got a higher vote based on my opinion of what meets the challenge and what appeals to me. I know I'm not the norm but I believe if you submit a photo for a challenge you deserve a little love. There are plenty of people that think differently and will give you their biased low vote. I never vote and make comments at the same time because I've already been wrongly accused of lowballing a photo based on the timing of my comment.
You have rated 134 of 134 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 49 images (37%) in this challenge.

I'll get to vote in a few minutes, I'll leave a few comments, I will use a higher scale than normal and try to bump the scores a little I rarely give 10s so I will just start at 10 and work backwards.
I must admit there does seem to be a lot of Troll type voting lately and rollover seems to be the worst time with stupidly low votes going in regularly... Wonder if anyone in SC can see if there's a trend as in non participating members hitting the shots T rollover or something like that, I was watching the whose online the other day and I saw two members both with voting averages less than 3.2 and neither had entered a challenge or participated in the forum. Thought it a little strange.
ETA: Oops I will vote tomorrow just noticed the time...

My score in Empty is 0.7 higher than in Landscape but I think that Landscape is a more interesting image. This trolling business in Open challenges is definitely out of hand! |

I am getting a few folks a bit annoyed with my comments. I was just trying to provide some critique to the entries - sorry to ruffle the feathers. And note that I have given a single vote lower than 5 in this challenge. |

Certainly not annoyed, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to comment, even if I have a differing opinion. Don't misunderstand my quibble above. I did appreciate the insight. |
