| 6.02 now. I was quite sure it could be at least a 6.3-6.4 even if I hoped I could do a better shot than this. It seems that lately people is becoming quite harsh, but al least it should be equal for all the partecipants ;) |

I always try to figure out how you derive some arbitrary number your entry should receive.
I think my tree entry should be 7.5456 (it's what the random mash turned up). It's not. Instead I'm barely floating above 5. |

I think I'm on track for my first ribbon, albeit maybe not a colorful one.

Uh oh. Well, I've done that once or twice myself, thoug I always caught it before rollover. Even had a really good shot for this challenge from my Saturday morning ride. Perfect light. Then realized it was minimal editing and I'd shot in RAW.

Oh, I shot it in RAW and jpeg, and it would be decent all by itself within the minimal ruleset, but I didn't even look to see what it was. What's worse is that I had it entered since Thursday and *still* hadn't looked.
Hence my idiot comment.....8~)

I'm still surprised how many people don't read the challenge description, and rule set:
Even after being on this site for years. It would also mean, if people don't pay attention to that, then the votes they dish out would be according to how they read the challenge rules!!!
I'm happy to say my score jumped past 6 now, from 5.88 last night!

Ok well that was weird as soon as I posted my score I got a 1, and dropped to 5.90!!!
Not posting over 6 scores anymore ;(

I didn't realize you could sharpen the image once. All I did is resize & save as web. I'm kind of shocked with the score in a good way.

You actually can sharpen it more than once. You can do it as many times as you want -- as long as it's "sharpen" not sharpen more, unsharp mask, smart sharpen or any of those things. But you can only resize once.

@ 5.58, with one very nice comment.
I didn't expect big score in a minimal challenge. It was not shot with the challenge in mind at the time, though I did think about the challenge quite often during the week.
There were probably several things that would have been done differently had I thought about shooting specifically for the challenge when I was actually shooting.
Still, I'm happy with the comment and the current score. |

You can sharpen as many times as you like, either at full resolution or at the final size or both.
The issue that happened previously related to sharpening is someone resizes the image part way to the final size, then sharpen, and then resize for web (e.g. Adamus Sharpening). This breaks the rule about resize only once.
