I'm not really *new* new, but I've mostly been lurking, so I figured I'd give ye olde meet-and-greet a go! Also, it gives me a really good (bad) excuse not to work on my Master's thesis for a few minutes. I like it already.

Annnnyway... I'm Anna. I'm an Archaeology nerd, shoot Nikon, enjoy macro photography, like chocolate, own a bratty Cocker spaniel, and have a thing for guys with really big... lenses.

I can also tell you the difference between birch and pine pollen, make a wicked cheese-and-bacon combo for campfire grilling, and sing horribly out of tune.

Hallo!

My lens is so big that I mount a second camera on it. I'm definitely compensating for something.

Welcome back Anna and enjoy.

My lens is much smaller than slippy's mammoth mount but i'm not a horse kind of guy.

Hey, cool, welcome!

So archaeology nerd huh? Very interesting - what sort of archaeology? I spent a fair bit of time studying that myself in college, went as far as a full summer of excavation on a Chaco phase great house site.

I have a lensbaby :( but it extends! I also have relatives in Sweden - in fact, I had one too many drinks with them just a couple of days ago.

After 25 challenges I'm not sure if you need a welcome, but still, Welcome!

Mainly North European prehistory, followed by Environmental archaeology for my Master's... focusing on studying past vegetation changes through pollen analysis. Currently I'm trying to find out when bloomery iron production was established in a parish in southeast Sweden, but- ok, maybe I'm getting a bit carried away.

I'll put you on my groupie waiting list if you want Mike, i'll be organizing a group initiation ceremony in a few months, it's not too painful, in fact you'll hardly feel a thing.

Ahh, one of those sorts. A lab archaeologist. :)

Seems less fun to me, but I've always been fascinated by the data you guys get.

How can any of us mortals ever expect to compete with Slippy's gigantic lens and Jagar's prowess with an average one?

Hey, sometimes even we get lucky!

hmmmmm...

ummmm...

I can see we just aren't going to get along.

I'm not a guy

and I can sing on key.

I shoot canon

own cats

and chocolate is only worthwhile if you put peanut butter on it.

So at least during group sign alongs, could you please, please, go sit near bear_music? I've already had to sit next to him a couple of times, and it's extremely painful. So I'll ignore all of your blatant short comings if you take bear off my hands during the sing along portion of DPC!!

Speaking of Bear, he has a tilt-shift lens. I have no idea what that means.

I think that's because he likes to use it at odd angles and in strange positions.

I just love how threads seem to get hijacked with the goofiest of conversations and they always seem to start with Slippy...hmmmm

BTW welcome and good luck handling these guys and your search for a longer lens :)
