I read this post as " I have a Hasseloff, as in David "Knight Rider" Hasseloff. I thought "Who cares and why would you want a Hasseloff?" :) Time for bed. |

LOL Neil, I thought the same thing when I read that product announcement. Then I thought, heck, I could machine a custom grip out of some exotic wood and paste it on the RX100, et voila! Hasselblad! |

Well, as lame as that is, at least it doesn't look as wretched as that damn Lunar.
ETA: If you weren't familiar with that already, it's a $7,000 NEX-7 that got pummeled with an ugly stick for a few weeks.

I can breathe, but I just want to cry...
Once upon a time Hasselblad and Leica made the stuff of a photographer's dreams. To see them reduced to products like these... |

I see some many cameras I want to buy just to put on a shelf and look at them because I think they are works of art. These are some of the ugliest things I have ever seen. |

I don't know how any designer could think that combination of wood and metal could possibly look good. I'd be embarrassed to bring that out in public, even if I'd spent $5k on it (or however much it costs) |

Except when designing high-end long guns and pistols and such... |

Both that and the lunar are simply fugly, overpriced, rebranded Sonys.
Hasselblad defends Lunar's concept and pricing

As an owner of the Sony Nex 7 I'm a little flattered but......seriously???
Hasselblad never ceases to amaze me. I used their 6X6 med. format 503's and 503CW's for years shooting weddings and senior portraits. Had they just made a reasonably priced digital back when the tide was turning they would have made a killing. But, oh noooooo, they chose to miss the opportunity and only provide hi-end digital backs for those few hi-priced paid fashion and advertising photog's in New York City (to name a few). I thought they were going to go the way of Kodak but I guess they survived. But this? Very strange. Not only did they take a consumer camera and label it as high end but they didn't even build the darn thing (except for the wrapping). |
