I really do have plans to make this tutorial for everyone here at DPC!! I am having a hard time finding a good/easy to use screencasting program. :(
I wanted to do a video tutorial, as it will take much less time than to write it all out....
I have tried to use EZvid, and Camstudio without much luck. Both programs error out or don't work for me.
Anyone have any suggestions? I have not done a screencast/screen record on anything before.... |

We use Camtasia at work, it's great, but it's not free. |

I am interested in the tutorial, but I have no experience in this area. It looks like Camtasia is $300. It has a free trial -- it's not clear what the limitations are. |

You can get a free trial of Camtasia. I used the free trial for school once, and really liked it. I can't remember how long the trial was, but I know it was more than a few days. There might be a limit on the length of the video, but creatively break your tutorial into pieces and you're golden.

Hey everyone!! I got the tutorial finished last night. I hope you enjoy it and I hope it helps some people learn some new techniques, and some common and useful tools in Photoshop if nothing else.
Feel free to message me with any questions. I did the best I could explaining what I was doing as I was doing it.
It is under 30 mins!! So please, if you are interested, take 30 mins and sit down, pull up a portrait of your own and follow along. :)

I find the video and audio keep stuttering. Other videos play fine, but not this one. |

I have it set on 1080p, are you using a fast connection? It's as high def as I could make it and I know that may cause issues for some if your internet connection is not strong... |

Very, very super-informative and well-put together, Samantha. Seems fairly straightforward. Thanks so much for all the time and work you put into it...and I like the bg buzzsaw sfx too ;-)
ETA: Any way to download this vid?

It's not a bandwidth issue, the video is already buffered, but the audio 'crackles' and the video keeps flicking a black screen every few seconds. I can only guess it is a codec issue on my end, since no one else seems to be having that problem.
The SD version works fine. |

OK, specifically seems to be a Firefox issue, works fine on Chrome and IE. |

HAHA! Susan, I just understood what you meant about the buzzsaw....yes my husband decided to work in the garage while I made this tutorial. I couldn't tell if it was being picked up on the speakers, but I just heard it! Sorry!! :P |

It's probably due to a plugin or extension I have installed. I am not going to bother to try and nail it down since I can watch it on another browser anyway. |
