In honour of a musical legend, David Bowie, who sadly died today only days after his 69th Birthday and the release of his latest album.

Wendy means "open box Bowie", this thread stipulates "song title/lyrics" and has no tie-in to his acting or other artistic endeavours. |

The thread title limits it to his musical creations. It was suggested to expand the theme to other areas -- he also performed extensively in film and on the stage ... and before he was a musical performer he was a mime ... |

Gotcha, I didn't get the point at first from Wendy's post. So a Bowie free study then effectively, although I guess that's not different from a Song Title/Lyric challenge as that's a FS too really.

| Don't forget the movie Velvet Goldmine, which is very obviously based on Bowie. Jonathan Rhys-Myers plays the Bowiesque character, Ewan McGregor plays an Iggy Popesque character and so on. Oh and Christian Bale plays the journalist. |

| What about Lemmy? Doesn't anyone care about Lemmy? With his band Motorhead he is the "founder" of speed metal is why. Not many metalheads at DPC. Maybe a "Dead Rock Singers FS" could cover them all. |

Hey if you think Bowie's lyrics were weird, google Marc Bolan/T.Rex. Ride a White Swan, Bang a Gong, Jeepster, Cat Black, 20th Century Boy...goes on.
Marc was a contemporary of Bowie, actually Bowie opened for T.Rex a few times. Sadly Marc checked out 40 years ago at age 29 :-/ |

These were my idols and still are, I meet Marc once at the "lanch in cov" ( only folks that know will get that )
As for Bowie's lyrics, they were wonderful, beautiful, and superb, he was a starman in every sense.
