I do not do many portraits but "the godfather" just sent me this tutorial and I thought I would share it with you guys.
It is an interesting technique.

Cool to see how it's done, I love stuff like that. But just as with the before/after tut Samantha posted awhile back, showing how she made herself into poreless perfection...though it's neat to see what was done, honestly I would rather stick with my own style rather than just try to duplicate someone else's and pass of the ensuing work as mine!!! |

I love trying the new techniques, because, from them, I find my style. My style has evolved from looking at many ways of doing things and then pulling the bits and pieces in as I want.
The nice thing is -- my style changes with the photos I do. I like having the wide variety of techniques at my fingertips. |

Did not have time to read the Dragan Style article but just looked at this again:
and at its original:
and left a note on it open for discussions |

There are many ways of achieving looks similar to this, from the Dragan Effect to what I did with my leaf blower portrait for the Eyes Closed challenge here last year...
My approach involved blending a B&W edit of the original with the color version. In the conversion process I used amplified textures using both structure and colored filters and then used a luminosity blend mode.
Skinning cats, and all a matter of taste. |

Interesting editing technique indeed. I will have a look at it later. Thanks for sharing! |
