So..... I just ponied up the cash for year #18 here. So that's one renewal....
The other one is the cardiac ablation I had yesterday. So theoretically, I have renewed the old ticker as well.
Even though this procedure is regarded as routine these days, I still went under general anesthesia and had a probe run up through the femoral vein and they cooked off some nerve endings.
It was a big deal to me. But I walked in the hospital around 8:00 A.M. and walked out under my own steam at 5:00 P.M. so.....maybe not so much a big deal! LOL!
Anyhow..... Y'all are stuck with me for another year, it seems.

Good news, Jeb. Glad it went well. I should describe the surgery I had last December for you. On the other hand, maybe not, it ain't for the squeamish. |

afib or SVT? Jeff had one of each type this past year. I've done the SVT route, myself. If it's Afib, realize that it can take about a month to not feel tired and a bit out of breath. We didn't realize that. |

Hmm...
First, I have Afib. They zapped a bunch of nerve endings to get at a left bundle branch blockage issue.
They also found some othe stuff they cauterized and when he explained it afterwards, it sounded like he welded cracks in organic material, or some such metaphor.
What's funny/sad/ironic is that in my career with cars, one of the most difficult problems I had was a CAN/bus communication error in a Mitsubishi.
I learned a whole bunch about computer communications and controls in automotive applications than I ever imagined existed or wanted to learn.
Afib is the human equivalent of a CAN/bus communication issue.
Oh, freakin' yay! At least I understand what's wrong with my heart.
Anyway, I feel fairly spiffy. A slight feeling of a balance issue, but not debilitating.
I walked about two and a half miles today over three different strolls....and that was what the doctor told me to do. Stroll.
No breath issues at all. Some gunk that clears from my throat and a little sore first thing this morning. Catheter access slot healing beautifully and virtually no pain.
Oh, good grief! I'm that old man that just goes on incessantly about his ailments!
'Bye!

Well done Jeb. As they say: the past is made of stone, the future is star dust and the present is made of clay and we can model it. |

Awesome! So glad you’re not having the breathing issues. Jeff and my sister had them done about 4 days apart, and both had issues for about a month - which I guess is pretty normal.
Which obviously means what we all knew anyway — Jeb isn’t normal ;P
Well done! |

Yes, the recovery has been pretty easy. I've been walking, although strolling is a better word as I don't want to push it.
Very little in the way of issues and the insertion site for the catheters is healing perfectly.
I gained 7-8 pounds due to the procedure, which seems to have been water retention as I have now lost 7.5 pounds in three days.
They told me to lose 50 pounds a year and a half ago......I'm down 90 and still losing gradually and safely.
Can't believe how much better I feel all round.
