For the first time since I've come here, my entry has broken above 6 :) I figured I better post this fast before the next update :)

Congrats Myqyl. I broke a 6 last challenge and I was 'over the moon'. I actually came in 30 out of 249 Yeeehaaa.

I was almost this happy...I got to 5.907, then my score suddenly dropped to 5.8 again. Noticed I had a new comment. The comment was this "...(mentioned the name of something) Forgive me if I'm wrong"
Guess what...funny thing is...they ARE wrong. LOL Oh well. I know what it is, and so do the rest of the commenters, so I feel content. LOL. Besides, I'm getting really great comments this week. (mostly) I already have more then I did at the end of last week and they are very helpful, very nice comments. Thanks a lot guys!
By the way...congrats on the score. Wish me luck, I'm right behind you. :)

Me too! It was cool. Lots of good comments.....then I fell through the ice and am back in the 5.somethings.Oh well. But that is because I am misunderstood. Really! About a third of the commenters are assumeing that I made a mistake in form when submitting. When in fact it was a well considered artistic decision. Being above 6 gets enough comments to let you know what people are think, even if they are not thinking at all. I am most fond of the comments telling me not to do what got me the highest scores. Ain't art a bitch? Getting more comments (which is much better than having a high score) is very educational. One astute critique told me that would be the case (she gave me a 10, which is why she is astute..:) Anyway, congrats on the 6+. Keep it if you can and enjoy the education. That is where the true value is.
And as far as my own submission goes, do you know what is really cool? A lot of people realy do get it! After so much dissapointment over the state of human mentality, finaly about two thirds of the people are understanding what I am trying to say. Whoahhh! Maybe I have resorted to too much simplicity....Have I sold out my art for general acceptance? LOL
Here is what is funny to me. If my deractors would just take it for what it is instead of what they expect it to be, they would be more comfortable, generous, and thoughtful. Gee, this is kind of fun!

I BROKE 6 TOOOOOOOOâ€Â¦.. Yippeeeâ€Â¦

I have thus far been lucky to break 5 – I've only broken the top 100 once in all the challenges I've enteredâ€Â¦ But over the last few months, I've listened to what people say – and there are a lot of people here that really know their stuff. The 'over the moon' sensation is fantastic, but there are so many people here that have helped me, I couldn't even begin to list them. So, thanks everyoneâ€Â¦ Interestingly, quite a bit of the help I've had has come from commenting on other DCPer's work, by spotting flaws – real or just my incorrect analysis – I have been slowly improving my own work as well as how I comment. If I get it wrong, somebody will mail and tell me, if I get it right, often I'll get a thanks mailâ€Â¦ Try commenting really well – whatever your perception of the picture, it can be as rewarding as getting commentsâ€Â¦

I've broken 6 on the current challenge, but only in my head!!!

I'm happier with the photo than everyone else seems to be (based on my current average I'll be lucky to break 5).

Some challenges I go for as high a score as possible and get disappointed if I score low, whereas with others I submit the photo I want to and stuff everyone else.... stuff the lot of you!! ;-)

Cheers,

Tim

In the 3 challenges I've entered, I have finished under 5 each time. Oddly enough, the last one I finished pretty close to 5, which was good enough to get 182nd place. Is there a ribbon for that? Or is it just a piece of lint? This time I think I will stay over 5. I was hopeful on the last challenge because I stayed over 5 for the first few days but then just fell, like a brick. So I'm hoping that I can keep my head over that mark for a few more days. I figure if I don't set my goals that high, maybe I'll reach them. Good luck everyone.

I've broken 6 twice now. It's kind of sad that I didn't end up submitting this week, but I'll just live through everyone else vicariously and feel happy for you guys who are doing well, and all defiant and misunderstood for the ones who aren't :).

I went into this one hoping to break 5 so I am very very pleased.

I WISH WISH WISH I could have entered my alternative under a different account - not to cheat but to see how it would have done. I'd really like to know that and showing it as an outtake doesn't really give an accurate impression.

However, I do also agree with the premise of one entry per person so I am not complaining that I couldn't - just wishing I could magically know how it would have done had I entered it!!!!!

I know I entered the better one so it isn't that - it's just a very different shot taken at the same location but very different in feel and overall content and composition.

The reflection is pretty much the same though.

Ah well.

But 6+ 6+ 6+ !!

WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

:)

Speaking of alternates, I will post mine. I posted this on photosig first because I wasn't planning on using it for the challenge since I had another shot that I thought was better, and it really took off and made me really wonder if I'd made the right choice. So here it is... Midmorning Fog. I HOPE I made the right choice. We'll find out Sunday night.
