Technology covers a broad area, I am expecting lots of HI-Tech stuff, but a flint axe is stone age Technology as well.

That's what I like about this challenge, it's wide open and really vague. There has been no explanation given (or necessary) other than the one word.
I think we might have an opportunity to stretch the limits with this one.

That would be true if the voters minds were also wide open and really vague :) I predict the most "does not meet the challenge" comments and votes ever... |

Well in that case I'm gonna be the ONE person who takes a photo of a PC and I'll win by default!! ;-)
In all seriousness, there's still a lot of room for something different without being too off the wall.

I'm learning that the photo must be a really good photo in the first place. It also has to be interesting, clean, in focus and eye catching. If you have all that (lol) AND meet the challenge you might get a high score. But really, it boils down to the use of light and the capturing of light. |

I think the thing we have to keep in mind is that the challenge is simply "technology", not "modern technology" or any other descriptive things about it. With all of this in mind it is going to be pretty wide open and people will need to use their imaginations when it comes to scoring. Autool |

i agree
the monkey that uses a stick to catch termites and the otter that cracks open clams with a rock could both be considered examples of non-human "technology"; ie, the practical use of a knowledge of mechanics
i don't see either picture scoring well here :(

Someone's already aced my idea of a flint axe (I learned the rudiments of knapping(?) from a Time-Life science book as a kid)...but maybe I still have some other related possibilities...
Don't forget the birdbrains who dig bugs out of bark with a twig, or drop clams from 150' to break them open...or spiderwebs or beaver dams. |

I think that from now on, any one that wants to complain about cliched pet child or flower pictures, has to submit a portfolio of 10, excellently executed, standard cliche pet, child and/or flower pictures. Once you've done them well, you can complain about people trying them. Until then, it just comes across as ignorant after a while.

Yeah i guess, i wish i had a zoom lens capability because the australian air force is doing excercises at the moment, probably preparing for another gulf war, and they fly right over my place. Today i saw 2 F-111 planes about 50 feet off the deck, 2 km off the beach going almost flat out. I wish i had had my camera for that, but i was swimming at the time.

Technology is in the image that you enter so don̢۪t tell me my image don̢۪t meet the challenge this time or for that matter anytime. Tell me how to improve my image or if its beyond you tell a person what you like about an image. |

I think I'm gonna play this week. I like the idea of 'technology' and I'm pursuing technology that is not state of the art in my image. I think this particular challenge will be a great opportunity to have a little fun :)

John already did that in a nice shot describing the opposition between the complex mechanism of a toilet versus the simplicity of a nice apple. If I say ... "the seat is taken' for a toilet shot ... would it be funny ?
Lionel But that's just me

A toilet is much more than just a technological marvel of the modern day... it is a place of meditation and reflection... :)

(1) what's the standard for "excellently executed" ?? (2) what's the difference between "standard cliche", "non-standard cliche", and "non-cliche" ?? (3) who's complaining? (4) tossing around terms like "ignorant" smacks of just that
