I noticed that the quality of my photo, when seen in in my webbrowser (IE 6.0), is very bad compared to when I see it in my image-browser (ACDSee). Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks for the quick answer, seeing the :-( in your answer I guess you have had the same problem. From now on I better check what the picture looks like in my webbrowser first, before I submit it.

Yes I can say that without an accent :-) But seriously, it's not fringing that's bothering me, it's the change of colors. Bright white turns into a gray mass with colorshades. It really has a big impact on the quality of the picture. |

strange.... my images seem to show up just fine on my computer & when I view the from any server on the web. when I save my jpg's in photoshop, I save them at a compression of 7. It looks very similar as if you were to save it at the highest compression. but with 1/4 of the file size. The only way pretty much you could tell the difference is if you were to magnify it. |

I noticed that when I viewed a certain photo in this weeks challenge at home it looked pretty good, but at work it was not so. I realize that because different monitors represent color differently and there are calibration issues this may effect judging.
I can't find the original thread on this topic, but it should be linked if anyone knows where it is. |

may also have something to do with how well the graphic card drivers work with the browser routines. . .

I wonder if you have some settings in IE wrong, that are screwing things up. You might want to switch off/ on enable image resizing, and also play around with the 'smart image dithering' settings.
Can be found under Tools...Internet Options...Advanced Tab
Also check how many colours your graphics adaptor is set up for, you want 32 bit colour if you can possibly get it.
We really need a tutorial on monitor calibration, or at least have the gamma targets and contrast/ brightness targets up.
