I've got an idea that I will probably submit but I don't think it'll be as dramatic as other entries...hmm, how to grab the viewer... |

I changed my mind and redid my shot. I think I came up with a real cool idea for this one. Something I haven't seen done on this site before and I really looked everywhere to. lol.
I think it is going to go over very well. I am going to predict at least a 6.3 if not higher for this one. What may stop the higher votes is the technical, but I still think it is really neat.
I hope I haven't jinxed myself now :)
My "10" is in to. I love the shot. I would like to change it up a bit but not sure I have the energy. I may give it a try though. |

Where are youuuu "perspective" people? Is everyone happy with their entries?
I'm very happy with mine but I think I will be asked for validation on this one pretty quick. If anything hurts my score it will be that most won't believe the editing was not advanced but I could be wrong. I hope I am wrong but I am ready to send in whatever is needed if the time comes for me to have to validate :) |

As long as I do better than my flower shot I will be pleased. |

Anyone else having trouble submitting today to this challenge? I've been trying to submit for a while now and it keeps saying that the connection to the server is reset everytime I try it... |

Another one I read today was "the technique of representing three-dimensional objects and depth relationships on a two-dimensional surface."
I also read about different kinds of perspective, including linear, aerial, and herringbone. I'm afraid that voters here will all be looking for linear perspective only (and by that I mean specifically looking for converging lines and/or vanishing points) and that is totally not the only thing perspective is about. It's about depth...making the 2D picture you see on your screen appear 3D.
I guess I should just get ready to help Ken with some village burning afterwards. ;) |

I don't even think it has to stop at making something 2D look 3D.
I will be looking for photos that show a different "perspective" (in very simple terms) of how we normally would view things. I am not going to be looking for specific line balance or anything that technical in any of the definitions given. Just something that makes me go "WOW" when I look at it and say "What a cool perspective on that thing or from that angle" etc.
I think that sometimes people read way to much into things. For stationery (and my score is way up there with lots of comments and a fav or two) someone said it was dnmc to them and one other said that "it was a stretch" (I think because of the title and not the photo). HELLOOOOO! lol. It's "stationery" you know? Paper either blank or written on or used for writing, printing, etc; pencils, paper clips, staplers, and so on. Makes me have to wonder just what they know about stationery and not me to have them make those comments.
In perspective I will be looking for just another perspective on how I would view an item, place, object, or person or whatever. I like to keep it simple. I will not be looking for "specific" relationships to definitions of the word in every dictionary or encyclopedia. :) |

I got my entry in for perspectives and I went the route that maestro is thinking of finding a neat perspective of something seen often. I like it alot so I hope it does well. Should have lots of good entries and I have a feeling that all the big hitters from the WPL are coming out of the woodwork for opening week to post images too.

For greater dof you need less aperture (higher number f/stop). You can also change the distance between you and the subject - get further away.

The only things affecting dof are focal length, aperture, and distance to subject.

What about distance behind the subject? Also, the more you step back the more you'll need a longer tele, no? |

Well I am in, and very pleased with myself.
I have always enjoyed "Perspective", especially when doing my art diploma at tech.
I hope it has the "WOW" factor that I love to achieve.
Good luck to everyone in this challenge, as we have a high number of entries again.....
I will again try to vote and comment on every entry for this challenge..... Who else is going to join me.....

Check out these equations, you can see how the three are related. Distance behind subject doesn't matter, it's the distance from the focal plane to the subject, the focal length of the lens, and the aperture.
