Kostia,
You are correct. My Apologies to you for offending you and tickling your pet peeve nerve. Please understand, it is very late, after 10pm, some brain cells are already sleeping and not spelling. (whoops run on sentence)
You did not point out I spelled seen as seem, nor photos as photo's. Perhaps you should have red inked all of my careless mistakes, it would have helped me be a bit more lazy this evening.
And, are you a liberal?

Huge photos, ugly mugs or graphics inserted into forum signatures, which are then resubmitted (by clicking 'Show Signature') in the forum again and again.

Yeah, I agree with this one. They got to be so obnoxious that I wrote a Proxomitron filter to remove all signatures from the DPC forums as I view them. Signatures are evil. I vote down the entries of any user who has a signature. (Just kidding.) |

I hate it when you try to get a good close up and the shadow of your lense is on the subject or the reflection of yourself on chrome or any shiny surfaces.

Just skimmed through this post and I'm shocked that no one mentioned glass with drops of water on it reflecting whatever is underneath. GAWD!! Makes me angry just writing about it.

Definitions of the challenge topic taken from the dictionary. It's a guide not something that is set in stone.

If your filter says "polorizer" on it, you might want to spring for a slightly better-quality brand. Look for one that says "polarizer."
Pet peeve: Bad spelling and grammar in titles. Lazy typos any child could have caught before pressing the "submit" button. Posts misspelling words the author presumably sees in print every day (that polarizer filter has the word spelled right, and it's three inches from your face when you use it). I vote photos down when the photographer hasn't even taken the time to read the title to make sure it's not gibberish.
There is no "a" in "definitely." There is no apostrophe in "their." And there is only one "a" in "challenge." When I see "this is definately they're best challange entry yet," it makes me weep for the future.
Seriously, how anyone can type "challange" on a webpage that contains the word "challenge" in at least three places in the top inch and a half is a mystery for the ages.

Count me in on the grammar police! My other "peeve" would be when I see what I consider to be gratuitous nudity.

I'm surprise that none of the female user/members haven't complain about their icons being incorrect.

I'm also tired of landscape/sunset shots in every challenge. Also of flowers, macro or otherwise. Bug shots seem to make it in most but not all. Another thing that erks me is the use of the challenge title in the foto title. Some things should be obvious thru the shot without having to justify it thru the title. Most landscaoes (that I can think of right now) do this.
Would also like to se the droplet shot & water drops shots take a break. I recently did spot coloring in one of my shots I hate it as much as everyone else did.

Challenge topic in photo title. Not a 100% of the time, but they almost always annoys me. Sometimes I think I'd prefer photos be left untitled here. I wonder if there would be fewer "shoehorn" entries.
Bees on flowers. I don't mind the flower shots on their own, but the bees annoy me. I feel like there are 5-10 of them every single challenge, no matter what the topic is.
Obvious snapshots entered in photography contests. If you're not even going to try to *create* a photograph, don't waste the voters time.

Elemmennope - I feel ya - i was in a challenge once where I spent hours, money & tears setting up the shot - only to find that someone took a picture of a giant fork on a wall and it scored higher than mine.
*phew* is right! that DOES help! |

I am totally with you Elem. I can't stand it when the challenge title is in the title of your shot - UGH. Also, I hate it when the title is a long novelette - if you can't name it in 3 words or less......... no thanks. |

Very true in most cases, however there is one long titled image, I believe of Union Station (or maybe Grand Central) that has a long title which totally fits, IMO of course.

Oh, you're right, but generally speaking. Sometimes I see this 20 page description at the top and I don't want to even look at the image. Let IT do the talking. If it requires a lengthy expose on it, then maybe you shouldn't put it out there - just my opinion. |

Is it too late to get in a couple of my peeves?
1. Anything on a plain white or plain black background. Boring. Boring. Boring.
2. Photos of logos or trademarks that are supposed to convey a meaning or feeling. Of course they do. The owner of the logo or trademark spent millions of dollars to make sure they do convey the desired meaning. Why should you get credit for their work.
Thanks. I feel better now. |
