CS3 is a major revision, a new version.

I'm downloading the beta as I type this... can't wait to get it installed and have to learn stuff all over again, LOL.

I downloaded it this morning, but my MacBook Pro only shipped today. :-(

hmmm, and I've just got my CS2... I guess I'm a bit slow. no wonder I had my year set to 2005 and make out-dated photos, too:))

wheres the beta version?
12/15/2006 04:14:50 PM · #12
I have been holding out for CS3 since I still run v6 and I knew CS2 was long on the tooth. Will see what the pricing structure will be - crazy obviously but how crazy will see.

How big of a resource hog is this beast compared to CS2?

It seems certainly no worse, and in some respects better than CS2. I've only just finished installing it about an hour ago; interface is somewhat different, but not so much as to throw you off. I was able to pretty much pick up and go. I do need to review the "what's new" though, and play with it some more.

What's new

The auto layer align and B&W conversion features sound particularly funky

Just DL's it, looks good and works great so far. Easy to learn with a few new whistles.

Here's the pic I practiced on for my first CS3 work. Worth the time to try.

Wow, and your original capture was a kitten? That's some software! ;-)

thought I'd interject here...when I attended Bert Monroy's workshop in September he told, those attending, that he was currently using/tweeking/etc CS4 and that CS3 was ready for distribution. He did the maple leaf brush, etc for CS2. How long before CS4???I've no clue but I know he did a few frames with it.

You should see what I just did with a capture of a dog turd! I'd post it, but I'm entering it in Free Study.

Actually it was a hairy ugly possum, wow it really took work to get rid of the ugliness of such a creature ;)

Silly question, but here it goes. If I have an Intel based Mac, do I download the CS3 Mac version? Is that the one that works for Intel based macs?

Yep the Mac version - I guess the d/l is twice the size because there's 2 versions in there or something.
