I recently experienced a problem with my coolpix 5700. While taking pictures my camera started suddenly getting horizontal lines on the view finder and in the pictures. It also looked like the image in the view finder was melting and changing colors.
I looked the problem up on the Internet and found it was the ccd (charge coupled device.) I also discovered this camera was recalled (if you have this problem) and they'll fix it free. I just wanted to post the link to the return form in case any of you coolpix 3100-5700 owners have the same problem.

Unfortunetely I know this problem all to well. This how I achieved this photograph with the E5700.

My camera was still under warranty when it happened but it gave me a big fright as I was about to go on holday in the U.K. when this happened.
