YAPPIE..... for November.....

I would like to nominate a Yappie for Charlie, Joynim who recently improved her commenting from the following figures quoted here (see below) bu Charlie, and the thread below.....

Joynim quote; from the recent side challenge called Slice of life which was in October 2007

Charlie Joynim made over 900 comments in this 31 day side challenege

She had made 400 in the previous 2 years!

She added 11 new people to her favourites

She added 15 new photos to her favourites

She had 1 of her photos faved

She had 3 people fave her.

Why you should join a side challenge

Over 900 comments for the month of October. Thats a huge number of comments made by Charlie, during the month of October re the side challenge Slice of Life".

She is now organising the current November 30 Day "Overlay" side challenge, and once again leaving many many comments.

Thank heaps, and I hope you consider her for this months Yappie Award.

Excellent nomination, Shez! I second that.

I'd also like to nominate colorcarnival for her "Beginning of the End" shot, which was wonderfully suited to the challenge and very artfully done.

Only one new OOBIE nomination during the week of Nov. 4-10, so there will be no voting - colorcarnival's shot will be put in the voting pot for next week's batch of OOBIE noms.

So...all OOBIE nominations posted between November 4-17 will go to the vote starting November 18.

A number of good challenges have ended this past week, so let's see what OOBIE-ness is to be found in the results. Post your candidates for an OOBIE here!

Thanks so much for that Deb, as I really do think Charlie Joynim does a great job in commenting last month, and also this month.....

I know it did quite well in the recent "Single Light Source" challenge, but I think it is worthy of an OOBIE.

The reasons why, is due to the fact that it is a very strong image, and stands alone in many differant forms.

It is a great light source, re the challenge it was in, but also a great duotone, wonderful design elements, especially textures and tones, awesome shadows and play of light, plus just so dam good to look at as well.

It has so many factors that come together, that make it an amazing image, that I like to nonimate it for an OBBIE please.

Yappie to aliqui. One of the most complete comments I've received in a long time that was provided without prompting (challenge entry vs forum thread photo feedback post). Here's Michelle's comment on my 'Pod' entry for the Single Light Source IV challenge:

"I love the flower/pod texture, color, and lighting. I would have liked to see that accentuated more. The gradient background is also very nice. It adds a touch of class that may not have been achievable with a solid black.

The composition, however, feels a bit ackward. I understand that you were likely going for a minimalism look, but something just doesn't seem to flow. Maybe if the subject were along the left side of the frame? When I look at the subject I see calm, soothing, and pretty. The composition feels "interupted," because the subject is coming in from the right and almost feels like it's forcing its way into the middle. (I hope that makes sense!)

Overall, great subject. I'd love to see some different angles and tighter crops."

OOBIE to yospiff for this entry in the Popcorn challenge.

Abstract, yet still identifiable as a Popcorn subject.

Arguably the most hideously underrated image in that challenge...
