I've gotta nominate Jaysonmc for Yappie. That guy has been yapping up a storm. Excellent, constructive and long comments, too! |

I second Pedro's nomination for a yappie. In fact, I third and fourth it, too!
His comment on my nude entry was probably the most useful I've ever received.
So here's your poem, as suggested by quiet_observation:
An ode, to Ped-
ro,who went so
far in tell-
ing us without yell-
ing how to do
better in nudes.
Can I also nominate SandyP?
SandyP is always
positive on all the days
She makes us feel good about
trying different shots.
Okay, crappy poetry, but meant sincerely. :)

I'll second SandyP for a Yappie. I ran into her from the Where You Live project where she had kind words, there wasn't even necessarily any provocation for comments as it's just a free-for-all project.....it just comes naturally to her.
I thanked her for a comment, ended up "meeting" her through some PMs and exchanged general pleasantries and our love for DPC, and I feel that I have a wonderful new friend.

Though I just seconded SandyP, I have to mention that Pedro is a DPC ALL-STAR in my book for comments and specifically sorting a problem I had with my computer/memory/CS2.
I had a problem that I was so certain it was of my own making I made it part of the title of the thread.
It was also so major that it had effectively locked up my CS2 for processing RAW.
Pedro read my post carefully and with a one sentence answer, worded in such a way as to NOT make it abundantly clear that I AM a dork, solved my problem.
Another person chimed in after I awarded him first prize in the "Why Jeb is Stupid" contest and stated that they too had tangled up their computer and Pedro sorted it right out.
And then in a total self-deprecating manner he made me feel less stupid by telling me he found out about it the same way!
He's a Hell of a guy, I'm tellin' ya!

While I'm busily hijacking this thread......
I feel I could nominate timfythetoo on the basis of this one comment alone.....he made this comment DURING the challenge, NOT as a post-challenge consolation, which told me a lot about his intuitive kindness and all 'round sense of decency.
Y'all remember my voyage down OOBIE lane, right?
The comment:
Well this image was quite the shock opening up. Having just voted on almost 100 black and white images to see this image full of color come up was a stunner. Had I not spent the extra second I did compared to many of the other entries my finger probably would have hit the 3 button quick. I expect that you are recieving many DNMC votes and comments on this one. But not here. No where in the challenge description does ot say that your entry must be a black and white converted image. While a bit out of the box (just a bit) I think that you met the challenge well and in a gutsy way. The image is strong and pleasing, the red background really makes this stand out even more than in comparison to the images around it. My only real complaint is the border. I am not too keen on the design and the orange strip just doesnt really go well with any of the colors that are in your image. I hope you arent getting hit too hard here. You get an 8 from me counting the extra point awarded for sheer balls. Good luck and I look forward to seeing where this image falls.

Team Suck is opening the nominations for two distinguished sucker awards.
If you have ideas for someone who should get an OOBIE or a YAPPIE, please post your suggestions in this thread.
An OOBIE sucker is awarded to an "Out Of the Box" entry in a DPChallenge, something that meets the challenge in a creative fashion that DPC voters might not have properly appreciated. It's helpful to have a statement or even a poem about why you are making the nomination for the OOBIE. Please include the username of the photographer.
A YAPPIE sucker is given to a commentor for either a particular comment or a history of great comments. For the YAPPIE, listing a representative comment would be good thing.
Yappie Hall of Fame
This set of nominations will close Saturday, 17feb2007. |

I nominate bmartuch for a Yappie. When I was scoring Team Suck photos, I saw that he had come on to almost every one and made a comment. And he was honest about his likes and dislikes. Very helpful.

I nominate Blue Moon's Abomination for an OOBIE. I love this Bad shot, and it was so OOB that the voters didn't get it at all. |
