Would anyone like to process a raw file? Would be cool to see refreshing processing suggestions. My attempt + raw file + other people's attempt can be found here.
Good luck!

I think your version is beautiful. Not sure anyone could really improve on your interpretation. Wonderful colors. |

I haven't done much, I'm sure there are a hundred ways to do it more interesting. I love Paul's version. Would be cool to see something refreshing and new. :-)

Really looking forward to seeing some examples.
Would love to see a "holga" or "grunge" version, or something like that.
Oh, and sorry for the horrible sensor dust, shot was taken at the end of a three week trip.

I'd be more concerned with the 3x3 red block (Hot pixels?) at the 125-128 Horizontal & 710-713 Vertical co-ordinates (after 90 degree CCW rotation)

I have nothing to add but to say WOW what a shot. When I think of learning to take landscapes, that's the kind of thing I want to do.

Raw conversion was done using Adobe Lightroom. Photoshop's only involvement was to brighten it up a little with curves (I decided I had left it too dark during the raw conversion and didn't want to go back and change it) and to reduce for web and sharpen. |

By the way Terje, that is ONE HECKUVA PHOTO! The range of colors and light contained in that single image is just astounding! I am in awe. Thanks for letting us play!

Here's my edit... I went somewhat along the same lines as Terje, but with a little more emphasis on purples, and less on yellows. There are some other interesting differences. I tried to edit without referring back to Terje's result, but I'm sure that the fact that I saw it beforehand influenced my path.
It really is a beautiful shot. What a spectacular sky... the foreground's pretty awesome too!

Here is my lame attempt at it. BTW you have sensor boogage that needed cloned out. My steps are in the details. And its a beautiful file to start with nice capture.

Thanks everyone! Some really great results here, I really like how differently it can look. Really interesting to see how we work with colors.
Yanko, that's crazy cool! At first I thought the rock at the bottom looked like an arm crawling up from below. Scary!

What I remember:
tone mapped
curves
levels
selective color to play with the reds
hue/sat to saturate yellows
a gothic glow layer, fill roughly 50% (I think)
resized
background layer smart sharpened at .2 radius and about 100%
gg layer smart sharpened at .1 radius and about 170%
flattened & saved for web
