My friends, a big concern is in my mind.

I want to excange my laptop but I've got in it the RSPremium that I love and it's very fast to do proofing images in weddings.

But I want to put it in the new laptop.

Does anybody knows a way? Any site that still got it?

Please help this addicited photog.

I think i have the install program at home. (i'm at work at the moment).
I could zip it to you?
But i'm sure there will be a site out there that has older programs.
Let me know.

I haven't been through a hardware transition personally, but I've read a little bit. It seems that the server on which RSP must be registered is no longer in service. Therefore, I *think* you'll be able to install and use it, *but* you may get the "nag" to register each time upon startup.
There may be another way 'round the issue. If both machines are Windows boxes, I believe there is a way to transfer apps from one machine to another. I *know* there is 3rd party software to manage application transfers, and Windows supposedly has some internal facility to do so, but I've never played with it. Perhaps someone with deeper technical knowledge of the OS can help you there.

Edit for typos :-P

Look around in this link:

I think there is a link in there somewhere for a download of Raw Shooter Premium. It has been adjusted to read Pentax RAW files, but it will still work the same as RSP. It may be worth checking out. I am in the same position. I didn't have my RSP backed up and my computer died. I am still hopeful for a recovery, just need to find a guru to sort it out.
Hope this helps.

Just know that one day, or the next camera you get you have to give it up. Its hoenstly better to find something else that works fro you instead of having to sort it out later when you really need todo something fast.

Depending on how it stores the information that is registered wether through a file or the registry it can be cracked, its easieer todo if there is a machine that its currently installed registered and working on. But i cant do much without being there. It also helps to moniter the software during the registration process to see what files and or processes are altered, used and what data is written to the system.

Having already bought it, why don't you just download a cracked copy and be done with it.

It is illegal todo so, but 1 as long as you dont get caught downloading it then you wont get caught using it. And 2 if you bought it legally you shouldnt feel too bad.

But its still illegal and would be careful about condoning such activites on this site. Do what you got to do.

I'm not a lawyer, but when you buy software you are buying the license to use it. OP already's done that.

Yup yup we know this, if it were as simple as downloading a copy and using your license key/serial to activate or register it that for the most part is legal. However having a license and crackign a copy in most countries is a different story

I do alot of software emulation and as a part of the emulation community were attacked alot. So ive been throught his and that and licensing comes up all the time.

I wouldnt feel bad about it since you did pay for it.

But the RSP salesmen said it was free forever  I agree with Rain, you gota get off dead software and some point and the earlier you do it, the less dead sidecar files you will have (appears the converter to LR is dead).

you could always downgrade to RSE if you can't find it in time. I know that you can download it as I just did and installed it a few weeks ago on my new laptop.

I assume you know you have the right to install and use Adobe Lightroom because you have the RSPremium license (because the company was bought by Adobe) ?
Yes, I know, Lightroom is not as fast as RSP to do quick proofs. (I still use RSP when I am in a hurry, also love the simple interface)

If you purchased RSP, then you should have received a notice for a free upgrade to Lightroom. I suggest upgrading, it's well worth it. It's slower than RSP, but you'll love the quality of the images you get out of it.

These two images are just about straight out of Lightroom:

I'm with David on this one, I initially balked at the idea of giving up my beloved RSP, but now I have gotten used to both the workflow AND the amazing output of Lightroom I could never go back. The new clarity slider is the icing on the cake for me. (and no more `gritty` sharpening like I used to experience in RSP).

Check it out!
