A DPC GTG in Northern Wisconsin. Half of the day will be spent touring Washington Island on Segways, The rest of the day would be spent shooting photos of the bays up and down the coastline including a lovely sunset over the bay in Egg Harbor. They have alot of shopping in the area for anyone who would rather not take the Segway tour, Or you could bring a bike along and tour the island that way.
It is your choice how you attend, I will be either camping or getting a hotel a bit closer to Green Bay area and trecking up in the morning. Hotels in Door County are very expensive during the peak season which is starting soon and will go til end of October.
If you are interested in attending this is the place to let it be known.
Insentive: I found a nice little cafe up there that has a nice breakfast menu.
GTG Details
When: June 14th.
Time: Early, We will sort out exact times closer to the actual date.
Where: Door County, Wisconsin. Exact meeting place TBD.
Cost: This depends on how many people take the tour.
Ferry: Included with Segway Tour. If you wish to ride the ferry $11.00, bring your bike $4.00 Total $15.00
All info needed can be found on the Web Site linked below.

I really want to do this, and bring smartypants too, but I'm in the middle of making some summer observing plans, and we're planning a family vacation in the Rockies, so I'll have to wait and see. :-( |

I am definitely interested. My wife will most definitely be there for this one. I doubt we would bring the kids. Late June is the best time for me, July is pretty full.

I'll keep this on the "watch" list and see what the date looks like. I really have no idea what the Summer schedule looks like, other than "busy." |

By the looks of other posts it seems June 14th would work for most people. There is a MAX limit of 8 people for the tour. The sooner we make a decision on this the better because I was told the dates fill up FAST. It is a little pricey, $159 per person, but I think it's worth the price just because of the fun factor. |

I am on board for the 14th or even the 15th would work, Do we need to make a deposit payment or anything? I believe my wife will want to attend but I am not going to count her in until she actually makes up her mind. That could be tonight or next week. Never really know. Her decisions are like Earthquakes. But if I had to guess Id say she will go.

My wife said she want's to do this. I kind of thought she would because when we were up there last week we drove right up to the Ferry Docks and looked at Washington Island and I could tell she would have liked to check it out then. Ofcourse the Boats don't do so well on 3 feet of ice. We could have walked about half way to the island though. lol Anyhow count her in.

I was trying to find out how much it would cost to take the ferry across with a bike incase anyone would prefer to do that and save some coins. But it is a well kept secret. Have to phone them for rates.

My wife and I rented Segways on Sanibel island in Florida. I had my camera with me and had no problems.
The ferry rates to Washington Island for adult passengers is $11 and bicycles are $4. |

I just took a Segway tour in Cozumel, Mexico, this weekend, and they wouldn't allow us to take anything along with us, so my camera hide to ride in a Jeep that was accompanying us. What a bummer! I will admit that it was probably a good idea not to have it along, though. I can see how a little slip-up can happen if you're not holding on with both hands while the thing is moving.
There were a dozen of us in the tour, and a woman a couple ahead of me ended up wandering off the road in a rather interesting maneuver! They are fun things to ride, I must say! |

Ok updated details.
fsteddy has made a reservation for the Segway tour on June 14th.
At current time I believe we have 5 spaces open for riding a segway,
or if you prefer to do the bike thing the ferry ride is $15 with your bike.
updated details are also in first post.

Where is everyone?
I am starting to look forward to this, even though my heart says slow down and enjoy the nice weather in the weeks leading up to this day. Another reason to be excited is, There is a real good chance I will have purchased my new D3 by then, Actually I hope to have it in time for the Madison GTG. |

BUMP!!! and a THUMP too. Lets do this guys, It is going to be a beautiful sunny day with a slight breeze coming off the lake. A great breakfast, a nice sunset on the lake later in the day. If the evening is warm, I might just go back to the Washington Island Ferry Dock and shoot some star trail photos. Also thinking about camping that weekend up in DC... |
