hmmm, it doesn't mention them in the Challenge description, but would fireworks be considered dnmc even though they are a night sky feature? |

Interesting that they chose the week of the dark of the moon to do this challenge.... |

I was thinking about that too. But that is probably a good thing or there would be an overdose of moon shots. This will give me a chance to perfect a shot from a previous challenge. Especially with the advanced edit rule set.

Read from the link you gave us!
Includes a camera control feature and shutter release cable that allows you to remotely take a series of exposures using your digital SLR camera |

I am going to give this a try, I've never taken pictures of the night sky so I look at it as an opportunity to learn something new :) |

Icelanders may be out of luck for this one. This week, the sun rises in Reykjavik around 3:30 am and sets about 11:20 pm.
When I was in Juneau, AK for the summer solstice, sunrise and sunset were at similar times, and the sky never got very dark.

Wicked! Seems I just need to buy a small t-ring adapter for $10 or so and I should be good to go. Now to break into her house while she is away and fiddle!

Going to be an interesting challenge... running it under Basic Editing pretty much rules out the vast majority of the tricks we normally use for astrophotography. That's not to say that damn good shots can't be made, but there will be an extra level of difficulty. |

So how many less than honest contenders do you think will be submitting some full moon shots not realizing that they were obviously not taken during the challenge period? |

I would enter this challenge if I didn't know I was going to lose to Larus and company pictures. This is challenge would be a waste of my time to enter. Doesn't matter how many times they enter that picture it wins...

I did not find any pictures of Larus (who is a member here) that fit to this challenge.
And please how do you understand this:
Use the moon, stars or planets to create a photo that's out of this world!
I think
(a) not to be trees, people, mountains but just the sky
(b) Use the advance editing to transform the initial picture in a "out of this world" way.
or may be both! And I dont like DNMCs at all :) |
