Hey all..new here..(first post)

I have a Canon G5 and am looking for resource and reference sites about it... I am a super noobie when it comes to photography,..so please be kind..=) and assume NOTHING! LOL...

I am mainly looking for a place (or literature) on macro lens what is good..what is not..I would like to take some macro shots of insects..flowers...house hold items..etc..etc.... I have ZERO accessories for my camera so far..and am wondering what are usually the "staples" of things to own for quality shoots.

I am a professional web/graphic designer and want to start making my own images stock.....so also things for people shots...birdseye view shots...etc..etc..are also appreciated..

My main focus is CRISPNESS.....as well as Depth of Field shots...with creazy views/angles...

I have been searching for the last 3 weeks at all the accessories availabel for a G5 and did not find many... but the same things... telephoto/wide angel..different version/Mfg.s of the same things..a few fish eyes lens..and one macro lens (snap on)...

Thanks for your time

Welcome!
For some great ideas on macro photography, see this article by Mark Plonsky. You'll be amazed.

For the Macro stuff, Mark Plonsky's site is the best.

I had the G5 before I got my 10D, so I have a couple of ideas for you.

Get a Lensmate so you can mount filters and accessory lenses.
Get a polarizer and a set of closeup filters.
Buy the 420EX flash, the off-camera cord and a Stoffen diffuser.
Buy a decent small tripod and head. I suggest Bogen/Manfrotto, but you, of course, are free to choose otherwise.

Always shoot at ISO 50, anything else is way too noisy. Don't use the "scene" modes, use Tv, Av, P or M. Shoot a LOT, and above all, enjoy your camera.

I have a G3 as well as the 10D. Ditto on the lensmate idea. Link below.

I opted for the 52mm adapter as the filters at 52mm are cheaper than 58mm. I bought the teleconverter (locally) as well and a 52-58mm stepup ring so the 52mm adapter could be used with it.
