Not doing too bad here, but trying to get a new job that's a regular 40-hr workweek an better yet is very close to me. If I don't get it, then have to seriously consider another line of work.
And how about you, Ernie?
ETA: oh yeah my scores suck, so that's not changed much :-0

At last, an unexpected bonus from work! I have just ordered the Sigma 150-500mm APO DG HSM for the Pentax. Should be here early next week.
Next on the shopping list, when funds become available is the K20D. I considered changing back to Canon, but decided I am more than happy with Pentax. Perhaps, by the time I have the money, the next model Pentax will be available. Could be a K3D?? Full Frame:)) |

Well it has been 18 days and I have not smoked. This has also been a very stressfull time. I'm putting my mom into a care center on Monday and she is not happy. So I figure if I can get through this then I have it made. I also have not eaten us out of house or home. And I'm still sucking along nicely with my challenges so nothing in that department has changed. Here I thought that if I stoped smoking karma would be good to me and make me suck less in photo taking :) |

Congrats on sticking with it Rosemary - especially during this stressful period. Sending positive thoughts for an easier transition for your mom and her new home.

Congrats! Hang in there - you're my inspiration. I need to do this, too.... |

Way to go, Rosemary!!!
You now KNOW you can do it.
Things should start being better really soon if not already......like the smoke smell going out of things, food tasting better, and just generally feeling better.
REALLY happy for you, dear lady!.......8>)

Got some help from both Mephisto (how to shoot for this, and how to use "photomerge" which I didn't know about) and Timfythetoo (turn upside down to get the ground in the middle, duplicate to be able to use "transform"). The basics are as follows:
Shoot in a complete circle with a bit of overlap in each frame. In other words, go stand in the middle of somewhere, and turn 360 degrees, shooting as you go. I did this one with my wide angle lens and 12 shots in portrait orientation. I checked the exposure in a couple of directions (nice kinda low light) and set the exposure manually to keep it the same for all the shots.
Combine all the shots into a panorama - I used Photoshop for this. In Bridge, highlight/select all the shots you want to use (but don't "open" them), go to Tools, Photoshop, photomerge. I selected the auto option (first one) and it seems to do a pretty good job of it. Crop your pano carefully so that the right and left sides will meet without overlap once you make a circle.
At this point, I highly suggest resizing the image - it'll be a huge file. Then turn it upside down, duplicate the layer, extend the canvas to make a square, and apply Filter, distort, polar coordinates. Then select Edit, Free transform, and turn it into a circle. I think there's a better way to do this last part neatly but at least it will get you started.
I expect to see some more of these now! Go give it a try if you're so inclined. :-)

So, speaking of different techniques.....
My daughter, after years of being my most eager subject, has become almost Garbo-esque in her unwillingness to be photographed.
So....after her drum lesson last night, I took her to the store for supplies. I snapped this shot with my camera at my hip aimed at her.
Two things are interesting.....one, the way that the lights and empty aisle make it look almost like a tunnel.
The second is that I did not crop this image......it's the way it came out just from a quick hip-shot.
I am pleased!!!
(Kid even liked it!)

Well, I'm in for FS & Light on White. I like them both, though I think the LoW might bomb. LOL!! I also shot for Skin, though I'm still deciding which one to edit. Uurrghh! I hate basic editing. |

I've got to decide on a Free Study.... doing OK in Puzzled, I think (at least the moving average isn't plummeting, so I take that as a good sign). Not in anything else.
And bucking for views... I have a bunch of shots from my mini-vacation posted. You can see the thumbs in the Germany GTG thread, or just check the Germany folder in my portfolio, and the DPC'ers folder. |

posthumous "I can't believe how centered she is. You should consider becoming a gunfighter."
I'll be slappin' leather any day now! LOL!!!

Well I'm sucking along nicely in Calendar II it is sitting at 4.0, and I'm in for Light on White IV. I'm sure it also will be there in the sucking range. When will I get it into my head that if it looks good to me and I like it don't put it up cause it will suck? |
