here's a pretty interesting collection of over 100 images from the pacific theatre in a denver post article.
the one that really got my attention is the last one, as i just recently saw an original print made by the photographer's assistant...he happens to live about 5 miles from my house! hopefully, i'm going to be able to spend some time with him this summer. |

Nice collection of images, Skip. Since this last black and white challenge I have come to appreciate B&W photography so much more than ever. It's remarkable how well done these B&W images were done without the benefits of the conversion technology that we use on our digital images. |

Great stuff, thanks. I'm hooked on the HBO mini series, I served with the 1st Marine Division for about 1 year, yea. they are tough.

Check out photo #9 - that guy needs to learn how to clone out dust spots ;-)

Spent a good 35 mins going through them - great photos showing the hammering the USA took - I think the part the USA played in WWII is often overlooked here - sure we all know about the Normandy landings, but a lot of Europeans forget the battles they fought in the Pacific. Thanks for posting. |

Thanks for posting this Skip. Lost an uncle on the USS Franklin. That is an image of it I have never seen before. Most common is the one with the priest administering the last rites on deck. |
