This was shot at a rookery on a little island, about three miles from home. It's Great Egrets and they were about 70 yards from my position.
I was back and forth about submitting color or B&W, and finally chose the B&W because the composition looks better to me without the brightly colored green BG.
Setup; 2500mm 10" Meade f10 telescope and D7000.
Edit, iPhoto, then G C to resize.

I don't know what to say. The scene moved me, and in this particular shot, the necks formed the top of a heart. The range, shutter speed, and equipment made it somewhat blurry. I knew it would get low votes, but wanted to share the moment.
The little Egrets were almost ready to start trying to fly when I was there to shoot the rising "Super moon" last weekend. |
