Obscure? I LOVE that song! I've been singing it for years, and they just recently started playing it on the local radio stations.
Cute bird too. Looks a little oversharpened maybe(?)
(but not a green dress, that's just cruel) |

Congratulations on your ribbon. From the highlights in the bird's eyes to the details of the feathers and the use of depth of field this photo is a winner. It was the only one of my 10-rated photos that made it to the ribbons. |

Most frequently I use a Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR on my D70, but for that one I was using the kit lens. It's not bad for the price, though not the sharpest lens in my bag by a long shot. That would be a Nikkor 50mm f1.8.
Thanks for the comments. |

What a great picture. The black and white works great with this picture, and I think the shallow depth of field is great where just the frame and the bird stand out. |

I'm sure that others will vote this lower than I do - mainly because of the out of focus plant life in the background and the lack of definition on the fence wire in the foreground. Never-the-less, those eyes, those little pin feathers all around the face, the exquisite detail ... you gotta love it. And, although it has a hint of tone to it, I love black and whites - or single color and white images. |

I love this photo. The depth of field where it counts, the sharpness in the subject, and the contrast are excellent and the simple frame definitely serves its purpose. Now how did you get him to pose in the thirds position, huh??? I hope this photo is tops in the challenge!
P.S. I'm betting on a ribbon here! |

Adorable! Very cute photo, and it's well composed. I like the duotone, and the framing seems to suit the subject well. My only complaint is that it looks perhaps slightly oversharpened, but that could just be the grain of the photo, which I like. Nice job! |

I love the way the fencing here not only creates a frame (which improves the image on a compositional level) but also provides a context by communicating the bird's captive status. Black and white works very well. Catchlights in the eyes are just right. Nicely out of focus plants in background add interest but don't distract. Excellent! |

What a goofy looking animal. Im glad this is in black and white, it seems better that way. I also like the way the bend in the fence sort of mirrors the llama...or emu's head. |
