i guess the "ghosts" in the front didn't put off as many as i thought :) really awesome finish derek you're on some hell of a run. this was an excellent choice, bringing the site's focus in to what's going on there. keep chronicling it (chronicling?) |

Fantastic, Derek. Knowing the sad events these days, I wish this picture had a clear blue sky...
I love your choice for title. |

Congrats on the top ten finish. A very dramatic image. I prefer this image over your outtake but that bird is a great inclusion. |

" Not thinking this will fare well... "
Looks like you were wrong! I love it when I am... doesn't happen too often for me, though...
CONGRATS!

Intense, you forgot to straighten the horizon, don't worry I've been guilty of that. 8 |

When coming back to comment on this image, I've decided to change my score from an 8 to a 9. You really set the scene here. The viewer gets a great feel of the scope of the location which is a breath of fresh air in this challenge. The tones are subtle and the foreground blur is minimal. But this image is equal parts smart and striking. It is in a class all it's own. A clear ribbon winner imo. Very well done. |

Oh, dear :-( Wildfires are SO destructive, at least in the short term. Interesting contrast with the growing fields, though it occurs to me that the contrast would be even more dramatic if the fields were greener. Never mind if they weren't in reality ;-) |
