Challenge: Black and White Portrait (Classic Editing)
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: In front of Christmas tree / Livingroom floor
Date: Dec 24, 2002
Aperture: F2.4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/80 sec
Galleries: Portraiture, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Dec 29, 2002

I got her to sit still by turning on Fred Rodgers and moving my camera so she was in front of the tree and about 5 feet away from it. The f-stop gave me a nice blurry tree that wouldn't compete with her (I hope)... I took most of the week trying to figure the best way to convert to B&W and I thank all the help I got in the Forums :)

Really cute. Great job blurring out the background, I do like the effect of out of focus lights. Well done.

Good job keeping her hair sharp and skin tones smooth. Wish those two circles right by her chin were a half-inch to the left.

If your background is tree lights, how did one of them get in front of her right cheek? Good use of DOF and a great model.

Nice profile portrait. I would like a little more light on her cute face and hair, and the light circles are a touch distracting.

I would like to have seen more light on her face to really make it stand out more from the background, and draw the eyes to it. I find that the lights are attracting my eyes away from her face.

Very nice shot, pose, composition. I'm just wishing there had been a bit more light. Good luck.
