This was taken at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks in Seattle. It's sort of like a mini Panama canal maintaining the height of the fresh water inland lakes of Seattle with the tidal Puget Sound. The locks are built to move boat traffic.There is a fish ladder on the south end with viewing windows and fortunately there is a decent Sockeye salmon run at present.
