The more I look at this shot the more I like it. This was shot in a park near Chinatown where they were running some boat races. It was a very hot Saturday afternoon, and this poor girl was hot and tired. I was drawn to her mop of blonde hair and her tight grasp on her father's shirt. This scene connected with me on an emotional level, and that what I was hoping to capture in the image. My youngest daughter is 15, and I do not get hugs like this anymore.

For a somewhat non-traditional shot it is doing better than I expected. While I suspect some voters will zoom past this shot, I think may be connecting with some. That is the most I can hope for with my photography.

nice simple shot the emotion is all in the tightness of her grasp on his shirt..I have two daughters so this speaks to me, I can connect with this very well.

Having children and still a small daughter, I look for these type shots, perhaps I understand the times before and after, the need, want and futile longing to freeze a certain spot in life. Photography lets us all relate and freeze that moment.

Before children, before my daughter, (the figurative and perhaps literal completion of a certain cycle of my life) I never felt as alive, never felt purpose in the same way as I do now.

We all need to be needed- and for me this hits on a specific instance and situation. Perhaps it will translate to the childless, or those at different stages of their lives.

Sorry to ramble, and yes I did get a bit choked up as well. 10 from me.
