amazing. I think this a first for illustrating that verse, and the shock value is fab. (btw, tiny, is it usual in your universe to be weary rubber gloves to hang out the laundry?) |

Another I thought deserved to finish way higher. I mean if Lizzie Borden can finish 12th (not knockin' it, just sayin') . . . |

I had to google the rhyme to see what was going on here. Would make more sense if you'd included a blackbird flying off with the nose. As it is, it's really just a freaky shot that is really disturbing to look at. Probably doesn't help that I'm a bit traumatized because I have seen a lady with no nose (my guess is drugs)... it was scary. |

The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!
Terrific idea, well set up and I like that the processing pushes it a bit but not too much. What a homely maid! Voted earlier. |

Voted earlier, coming back to comment.
O.k. I have to say that this is an accurate capture from a line in the rhyme but nonetheless the imagery of a missing nose is a rather disturbing to look at for any length of time. That wide open mouth in a bawling scream of pain is a right expression for action of that line. I only have one suggestion/critique that I can offer right now to strengthen the connection of the imagery to the nursery rhyme. I think it would strengthen the image if you had included a black bird in the top right corner flying out of the frame. |
