The background isn't great as he does a have a piece of wood behind his head, but as a candid portrait and also as he is in his place of work, I decided to just go with it! Had some compression problems here too, I wanted to crop really close onto his face, but unfortunately couldn't.

Whatever the flag/stick thing in the front is, it's quite distracting to the shot. It seems you incorporated it intentionally, (I'd assume it has some significance to fishing), but it'd have been much better if it didn't obstruct your main subject. 5

This person has an interesting, weathered face. His attire supports the rugged lifestyle. Good character image.

Nice shot. It is a little busy for me and I think if it were without the stuff in his left hand to bring the concentration of his look at the flag more into play it would be great.
