A lightbulb is so hard to break when you actually want it to! |

I perfer your original; I found the smoke more interesting and very pleasing to look at. Also, although the broken bulb no doubt assisted viewers in determining what they were looking at, I thought the abstractness of the first one had more appeal. Great idea - you're truly an original. |

Well done Gary on yet another great shot!
Is there any end in sight or do you have the market wrapped-up on the Blue Ribbons around here?

Congrats on YABR! (= Yet Another Blue Ribbon; an acronym that was created specifically because of you Gary!) Great shot; the glowing filament and the way it colors the smoke is terrific. I shall have to try this some time, sounds like fune... especially with the extra "tips" you provided this time around. |

Thank you all for your votes and comments. This was the first thing that jumped to mind when I saw the smoke challenge announced, although I was a little weary of doing something I had already done before. But it paid off and I am happy :)

What I meant was that if you switch on and off the light very fast the filament doesn't burn right through, it just burns a little like you see in this image. You can do that about 4 times before the filament blows completely. |

There's such vivid detail and sharp contrasts in this image - from the sharp shards of glass to the swirling white loops of cooling smoke. And it just hangs there and turns in upon itself forming exotic shapes as it twists into future oblivion. Perfectly lit, perfectly focused - absolutely beautiful. How can anything so acrid and harmful be so interesting and captivating? Wonderful image. Congratulations. Can't wait to see how many 10s you get. Anyone giving it a 1 needs to be drop kicked out of DPC. :-) |

I rated this one the highest - it must have been an extremely tough shot to get and it came out very well. My only problem with it is that the glass of the bulb seems a little bit too fake. |
