One of my sugar maples, shot on a rainy day where although it had actually stopped raining, the slightest breeze ensured that the rain on the leaves would drop down on you...*sigh*

Hopefully I can get something out of #3, due to the burls ringing its trunk, I can't tap it in the spring for sap. For the same reason #3's neighbour, #4, is also untappable. Shame, as they are the two biggest sugar maples I own. Ah well.

Much to like here with details and interesting textures at various different scales but I wish there was not quite such a large really dark area dominating the picture.

This one really rising up before me - it looms over me and makes me feel small. Love the dark trunk and all the great detail and rough texture that I can see in the bark. The only critique I have is that I wish the leaves had that same great tonal dynamics but they appear more of a flat gray tone...don't know if that is a limitation of converting to greyscale that only minimal will allow or if that can be improved by shooting at a different time of day when the light might illuminate the leaves with greater range of highlight and shadow.
